Hostel Casa Ridgway

We are Casa Ridgway, a hostel in the heart of San Jose?. We not only offer a place to spend the night (dormitory or private room) but also give you the chance to support a good cause. Casa Ridgway is run by the Centro de Amigos para la Paz, known as the CAP. It is an NGO working to promote human rights and social justice (in Costa Rica) since 1983. The hostel was founded shortly after, in 1987 to auto finance and therefore, secure the independent work of the CAP. The CAP works as a space where differences collide. You can find traces of these moments all over our place, starting with our library that offers a broad selection of books about Costa Rica and its background.

In a quiet little street, surrounded by small theatres and Cafes you will find us, only a block from the National Museum, such as the Jade Museum. Within 10 to 15min walking distance, you will reach the districts San Pedro (where the University of Costa is located), Barrio Escalante and La Cali where you will find a variety of Bars, Clubs and Restaurants, or even small galleries to wander through.

We offer an equipped community kitchen, laundry service, a guitar, lockers, towels and the aforementioned library full of books linked to the socio-political situation in Central- and Latinamerica. Between 7.30am and 9am we provide a small breakfast like Pancakes or Gallo Pinto, Costa Ricans favourite.

Hostel Casa Ridgway Policy and Conditions:

Cancellation Policy: 1 days before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the first night of your stay.
