Our Stay
Delft Village Stay is a unique, community style stay located on Delft Island (Neduntheevu) - Sri Lanka’s largest and most remote inhabited island. Built on our family land, our stay brings together the local experience and visitor communities for a special, shared experience.
We are keen to develop responsible and sustainable tourism on the island and encourage our guests to support this by being conscious and aware - from being mindful with your consumption to considering your impact to respecting our local way of life during your visit.
We are proud to be featured in the Lonely Planet 2025 Guide and to be the award winners of Northern Province Tourism Award 2025 and SLCBC Regional Excellence Awards 2025.
As we are a unique stay, please contact us in advance via WhatsApp so we can help you have a smooth trip.
Our Offerings
This is a chill community spot, not a party hostel. It is a great place to relax, wind down and reflect whilst connecting with like minded people from across the world. Take it easy in our hammocks, explore the island by bicycle, take a sea bath at the sandy beach 5 minutes walking distance, join daily yoga classes, play Carrom and board games, participate in pub quizzes and more.
Enjoy a taste of Northern Sri Lankan cuisine with our traditional, home-cooked Sri Lankan meals through slow breakfasts and communal dinners shared around our table and campfire. We organise a range of activities from local fishing trips to sunset boat trips to toddy tapping tours depending on availability.
Prepare for an Adventure
Island life is beautiful but simple - we face many challenges on a daily basis from transport issues to salty shower water and power cuts. During your stay, we will do our best to make you comfortable but be prepared to experience the full and authentic island life.
Arriving to the island is your first adventure! We are located on a remote island so require some effort to reach. We’re happy to help you, please read the below information and contact us on WhatsApp to coordinate your arrival.
Arrival information:
🚌 Step 1: From Jaffna, take bus 776 to Kurikattuwan from behind the main Jaffna bus station (in front of the HNB Metro Branch, Google Maps location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/gVNRR5Jw1BwdtJVLA?g_st=ic). Leave at least 1.5 hours before your ferry.
Cost: 200 LKR (TukTuk option: 3500 LKR).
🚢 Step 2: The ferry departs from Kurikattuwan Port at 08:00 AM, 08:30 AM, 14:30 PM, 15:30 PM and 16:30 PM.
Please note: The 14.30 PM ferry costs 250 LKR and is open-air (better if you are seasick), otherwise, the other ferries are free. During the windy season, the ferry ride can be difficult so if you get seasick, it is a good idea to take some medicines before.
🛺 Step 3: From Delft Jetty to Delft Village Stay, take a TukTuk for 400 LKR or walking takes 20 minutes. If you arrive in a group or with other guests, we can arrange shared transport. Let us know in advance!
