Despite booking one room for two people, when we arrived the lady at the desk split us up into two separate rooms. We asked whether we could be put together, as we are two girls and she said this wasn’t possible as ‘another group’ was arriving the following day. The ‘other group’ never arrived and we were left separated for our duration there. The lady seemed a little happy about telling us this and had a smirk on her face when we asked if we could stay together. There are better places to stay!

Let’s break it down. The hostels location is great, 5 minute walk to the boat taxis. That’s pretty much it. Not a nice place to stay at, unfortunately hostel options for caye caulker are limited, so the people I’ve met here are on the same boat of having no where else to go. This hostel is more like too many bunk beds in a tiny hotel room. I found my sheets covered with spots of dried blood. I asked the hostel about it and she pretty much shrugged and said they’ll change it for me. Not very nice
