Angmo Hostel by Amaka

Welcome to Angmo Hostel by Amaka! We're Urana and Ladislav ; a Thai-Czech couple living in Chiang Mai. In 2015, Urana has opened her very first business : a small bed & breakfast called Amaka which was named after her late grandma Ama Wattaka or Ama Ka. 10 years after that we are opening a hostel which is named after Ladi.

Angmo in many Chinese dialects including Teochew literally means red-haired people. It’s also a term they use to refer westerners. Our Angmo in particular is referring to Ladi who doesn’t have that much hair anymore but you could still see the bright red beard which has been well taken care of :)

— Our Space —
We’re centrally located in a residential area which makes it so close to everything. We do have a kindergarten and a primary school nearby which will be busy during rush hours. However, we’re tucked in a small alley which is far enough to not hear the traffic. Please note that we are NOT a party hostel as we would like to keep it quiet for our neighbors and our guests to have a wonderful sleep every night. We aim to provide a clean, comfortable, cozy, safe space for you to relax and make some friends after a long day of exploring our beautiful city :)

We only accept cash upon arrival

— Our Hours —
Check In : 2PM
Check Out : 11AM
Working Hours : 7AM-10PM

Early Check In : if the guests who stay in your bed check out early. We will be able to let you check in early at the preferred time with no extra charge. If they check out at 11AM, the earliest that we can let you have the room will be 1PM. However, you can leave your baggage with us and come back to check in later. We are so sorry about the inconvenience.

Late Check In : as our reception closes at 10PM and you are arriving later than that, we will send you the front door code and instruction on how to check in on your arrival day.
