We really enjoyed our stay at HI-DC. Appreciated John\'s morining ritual of non-english hello\'s and getting hosteliers talking to each other. Would like to see your recycling bins located in more high traffic areas especially in the kitchen to encourage more recycling. Also a list of items that you are willing to accept. Example, with plastics, does that mean any plastic (bottles, bags, jugs, spoons, cups, etc) or are there exceptions? Might also put up some signs or posters encouraging participation.

The cottages (that’s what you get when you book a room) are very beautiful and clean. However, there are some points of concern when you stay here: - Showers have cold water only. - Big dogs walking around to guard the place. - Once you rented a cottage (room) the keys of the other cottages become available as well. Usage of your own lock is not allowed (I tried). - wifi is switched on when you ask for it - Location is not that good. Most of the restaurants and hotels are at Alona beach (3.5km)

Owner Comment (Show)
Yes in Alumbung we have cottages and villas, this is what the description says, did you read it? did you look at the pictures? Our villas have hot water, the cottages do not, again you should have read the description and booked the Superior room instead of the Standard room and spend a bit more money for this additional comfort. Water is not cold in the Philippines, average of 30 degrees celcius daily!!! Now I am not sure where you usually stay, but I have never seen a hotel where you can lock your room with your own padlock so that even the cleaning staff or owners cannot get in unless they break the door. Emergencies happen, bathroom leaks, fires.....etc and with your padlock on the door how are we supposed to solve problems that might occur? Wifi is free from 9am to 10pm but we are environmental friendly here at Alumbung and switch off the router which uses electricity when nobody is in and nobody is using the internet. We have 4 rooms it is easy to ask for it to be plugged in and it will done in a minute, when you requested to have it on till 11pm it was done without a problem, right?....As for the big dog his name is Chico and is not allowed by the guest cottages, that's why there is a small gate leading to the accomodations, Chico stays by our house, he is our mascot and is friendly to all our guests who most of the time want to pet him and take pictures with him. Alona it is 1.5km away from here (3mns ride on a motorbike), the local beach, Danao beach is 500m away (5mns walk) again it says that in our description. We offer a mini bar at Alumbung, again in what hotel have you seen that you can replace what you have used in this mini bar with a different lower quality items to avoid paying for what you used? Finally my question is after all this why did you extend one more night from your original booking of 3 nights and ended up staying 4 nights if there is no hot water, big dogs etc...????? you could have easily moved to Alona
