I wouldn't stay here again if you paid me! People living in squatting accommodation have better conditions. One toilet and 1 shower per floor (both filthy). Room only fitted a bunk bed a sink and 1 bag. ( there was 2 of us) only positive is its location. Close to restaurants and tram line. I'd only stay here if you needed a place to stay after a night out. Price is ridiculous for what we got. And tripled in price on the Saturday night. Don't do it!

The hostel was not wonderful but not bad either. It was just rooms and beds, clean enough. The big problem I have had with Orfeo is that, upon arrival, they made me pay 20 euros more than expected. I had made a reservation on hostelworld, I had printed the confirmation. When I howed them the confirmation, with the prie I expected to pay, they said that the price on hostelworld was below the price on their website, and that they wanted me to pay the price that was on their website. 20 euros more

The staff was really interesting and helpful, many thanks. For a newcomer to Amsterdam maps were provided, tourist hotspots were pointed out, and they were always happy to have a chat. The hostel is compact, but provide everything it should. I enjoyed the television in the dining area, as well as the boardgames that is available. Breakfast might have a cereal option perhaps, but that is really the only negative. Very good value for money.

I am sorry but this was the hostel that made me re-evaluate my entire strategy of just choosing the cheapest hostel and thinking it will be fine. From the cramped rooms littered with cigarette buts to the pot stained air of the ghost town like common area, this was the worst hostel I'd been in so far. All I wanted to do was phone my mum back home and tell her I loved her.
