This houseboat offered breathtaking views, a beautifully designed room and a unique stay. It was a bit expensive, considering we simply stayed in a bedroom in this woman's home, and I was forced to pay extra for a PayPal fee she incurred (this should have been the business' responsibility, especially since PayPal was listed as an acceptable form of payment, and it was required to pay for the first night prior to arrival)--but, overall, this was a very lovely place and I wouldn't trade it.

Staying here was fantastic. It was the perfect place for a week to chill. Rose, the lady who owns the boat is lovely. She was incredibly helpful for things to do in the area and helped me out when my flight was delayed.. Much appreciated! There is a fridge and kettle with tea coffee it was all we needed as we ate out or made sandwiches. There's also no wifi but it was great not being able to connect to the social world! You can however connect to the gym across the canal.

Rose was absolutely lovely. We arrived late due to train issues and she had stayed up to greet us and ensure we knew where everything was located i.e (bathroom, kitchen, locks) - A very cosy home away from home, clean and in a great location, local to everything - I would highly recommend a stay at Arknoa

This isn't really a hostel in the typical sense, more like renting a room for cheap (by Amsterdam standards). Rose (the manager) is very nice but didn't give us a rundown of the city like many hostel staff do. Also there aren't many facilities, the room we stayed in had no internet, there is no common area, you can't do laundry, there's no breakfast... It is nice to be on the water. Again it's kind of like staying in someone's house rather than a hostel.
