Backpackers is a very fun hotel that encouraged socializing with other people. The staff was helpful in booking tours and if you booked multiple, there was a discount. The staff also shared their personal tips on how to best enjoy each landmark.

For a hostel that is located in the desert , it´s pretty good. No breakfast and the wi-fi is not bad.

Wonderful place to stay, people from the hostel are great, the offered tours are awesome and the ambiance the evening is just perfect ! I will come back for sure !

Great hostel. Comfortable beds, clean and tidy rooms. Friendly staff, nice fireplace and bar. Bit hard to find and out of town but not to far to walk.

One of the toilette was closed in the night. The other was broken and the door cannot be locked. There is another one hidden in the other building. The bar always plays loud music, even when nobody is there, until pretty late, around 9-10pm maybe. wasn't sure if the bed clothes are always new for a new guest. found a hair string on the pillow.

Had a great time, nice atmosphere, quite well located and friendly staff. Beds were comfortable but could be cleaner. Good value for money, no doubt

This hostel is perfect to stay in San pedro. just 5 minutes from the "center" but shops are close by and tours include pick-up there... The tours they sell are really good as they only work with company they know and with who they never had any problems. The beds are so comfy and warm.Bathroom and kitchen OK. Lockers in the common area.Hammacks, fireplace,... They rent bikes that are nearly new... Perfect!

Cool hostel in general. No breakfast but thats everywhere in San Pedro. A little outside of the town center but the town is like a 5 minute walk so not a big deal. Cool bonfires with food. Would definitely go back.

Nice hostel, friendly staff and cozy atmosphere.

The hostel was full, with only 5 toilets!

Nice place, good deals on excursions, a little expensive and out of the way.

great, but difficult to find

Rarely in S.A. do I come across 1 good kitchen in a hostel, but this place has 2 well stocked kitchens for use. The nightly campfires really adds to the atmosphere. The staff were great, and if you like cats, this is your place. One suggestion is to add a sign on the road for people looking for the hostel as it can be a bit tricky to find as there aren't labelled street names where the hostel is. Definitely recommend staying there.

Can't expect much being in the desert but a good hostel. Clean and warm showers. Warm beds too.

Great hostel and they accomodated our large group very well. I loved the bonfires at nights. They also were super helpful booking tours especialy for our 10+ person group!

Bit far from bus station and main street. A lot of noise when windy as lots lose parts on roof. Did for a few nights. WiFi good. Have tours you can book but cheaper ones in town

Owner Comment (Hide)
Well , 4 blocks from bus station and 4 blocks from main street is not exactly far, we are just in middle of both, but I understand some people don't want to walk at all. In the windy days, nothing for to do, with 100 kms/hr, all the town is noisy, but we don't loose the roof and you don't flight away!!! You are a lucky man!. For excursions, mdepend of the quality, best tours = expensive ones, good tours= normal prices... bad tours = the cheapest!, We have the good ones with excelent deals!!

Lovely hostel. Good sized rooms, comfortable beds, hot showers, impeccable bathrooms because they are cleaned constantly throughout the day, lovely garden area with hammocks, bar, sun beds, and a cute little common room. Fantastic choice of tours at good prices. Excellent location, five minute walk from centre, 15 min walk from main bus terminal. Only complaint would be the wifi didn't reach to bedrooms and was a little temperamental but not really a problem. The male staff were so lovely!!

Decent place, with a nice outdoor area. A bit futher out of town than some places though. And the rooms were a bit cramped - I had trouble getting into my top bunk bed, as the ceilings were so low.

A few things 1) the hostel is not hard to find! So don't b scared, u will find it, even without a special map! 2) the tours offered by hostel are expensive 3) bondfire really nice as well as cheap food served in the evenings 4) super clean toilets and good facilities in general (they have 2 kitchens!) 5) People take tours to experience atacama. They really are nothing special! The guides are more like drivers! (Though really nice people). U are able to walk, bike or hike to most of the sites!!
