This hostel is GREAT. Socialising is easy, staff is friendly and there is something to do every night. It is one street out of the main street, which means you have a quiet place to sleep. There's a swimming pool, great hammocks, clean kitchen, breakfast for cheap rates. Also good mattresses, clean rooms, lockers provided, benches to put all your stuff on. Slept really well. Wifi works average but all the rest totally makes up for that!

Near bus stop, 5 min to city center, very clean, nice staff, hammocks for lazy days, no free wifi but would recommend!

Very chilled out place. Not very much going on and a bit of a walk out of town. Staff are friendly and helpful. I thought there was better hostels around town for better value

Friendly staff. It's a little out of Airlie Beach centre but not far. Only a five minute walk. A quieter hostel on Airlie which some may prefer. Would stay again.

Really nice little hostel, two mins away from bus stop but they will still pick you up. Rooms are nice, wifi is cheap and actually quite fast. Lots of recommendations from the staff and they are also very helpful. The best bit is the view which is lovely in the morning eating breakfast. Pool and hammocks a nice touch and the atmosphere is pretty nice. I stayed another night at another hostel which was cheaper but I should have stayed at backpackers at the bay again so def recommend

Very close to the city, just a very short walk (around 4/5 min walking). Clean and great atmosphere. Staff was really nice as well. We had the best time time there!

Little but further out of town than most other hostels but it's a few mins walk. Closest to the bus station. Little lockers and doors left unlocked but doesn't feel unsafe. Staff very friendly and helpful. Bit quiet when I was staying but still good atmosphere. Clean enough but not spotless. Looks dated but everything works. Outdoors area is nice to chill in. Not the best beds but decent.

Great chilled out hostel, helpful staff, hot showers, clean, ideal- would definitely stay there again.

I liked this hostel. It's a 10 minute walk from the center of town, but it means that the partying is kept to a minimum and you can sleep in peace. It was clean and comfortable with good storage space. The common room was a bit sparse--no couches or TV, but the kitchen is well stocked and the staff are nice

The pub quiz never started on time. ;-)

GREAT staff, who helped my friend and I with all of our complicated travel challenges. :) Clean, quirky, and fun. Super helpful for organizing sailing trips. Cheap bar. LOVED it!

Great hostel, close walk to town but far enough away to be quiet. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Great place to meet fellow travellers over a few beers and some trivia at the bar.

One of the best hostels ive stayed at so far. Nice common area, friendly people at reception, nice activities and in general friendly and diverse people staying there. Only disadvantages are that wifi is not free and that the walls are pretty thin so i woke up quite a few times at night.

Great hostel, nice staff and good location

Room smelt, even though window was open most of the time. Insects in the kitchen drawers. Good staff.

Really enjoyed my stay at By the Bay, it made a rainy week in airlie much better. Beds are super comfortable, and each bunk has a bench where you can keep your bag and clothes. Great kitchen, outside seating area and bar are great and everything is cleaned to a really high standard. Staff are really friendly, as they are backpackers themselves they are all aware of what the traveller needs. Wifi is really decently priced and has a good connection. I would definitely stay here again

Only here for one night but was pretty happy with our stay.

Nice place, away from the town but not by far. Clean showers and toilets. Near to the bus station but still get picked up.

Staff was excellent, except for people literally living in the hostel for a year or so. The quiz is a nice initiative, the atmosphere is nice, location is out of city (10 minutes walk) but next to the bus station.

One of my favourite hostels I have stayed at in Australia. It's small so you can chat to most people that are staying there and get to know the staff. The rooms were nice with room for bags etc, however there were only 2 plugs between 4 people which can be annoying sometimes if everyone wants to charge phones etc. The bathrooms were clean, as well as the kitchen and communal areas. Good hostel if you just want a quiet night in as they do a quiz every night, but also good if you want to go out!
