Really enjoyed this hostel. Had a great chilled out laid back feel. This hostel is a 10 minute walk into the main strip (which felt a bit like Malia!) If you want to relax and be a little but away from the party hostels this is perfect. Rooms small but clean. Kitchen facilities good, but could have been cleaner.
Close to greyhound terminal, 10 min walk to city centre. Only 1 hour free wifi when you check in. :( Luggage storage not free of charge. Facilities are old and not very clean. No pillow cover. We moved to another accomodation.
Hats off to the staff, Alice, Emma, Ben and max are all heros in their own right. Quiz night every night always good for a laugh and a bonding experience. The girls at reception always very friendly & helpful. Far enough out of the strip to be quiet & not too far to walk. Kitchen could get busy and bathrooms weren't of a good standard of cleanliness but the atmosphere made up for it. Hammocks and BBQ were appreciated on lazy days. Would recommend!
I really like the hostel. It's a peaceful place. No party hostel, but every night there was a trivia game where you can win a bottle of champagne. The beds could be better. You can really feel the bottom of the bed and that is no good. I booked my whitsunday tour here, they have stand by deals. What saves a lot of money. And you get 1 night free at the hostel. There is one typical guy living in his car out sight of the hostel. He is really strange. Don't argument whit him!!
Very nice chilled out hostel, enjoyed my stay here. Kitchen could be slightly better equipped but on the whole was fine.
Good hostel overall. Good points - clean, free bike rentals, nice outside area with pool, spacious kitchen, bad points - slightly out of the main area of Airlie Beach (with all the bars and shops etc). I didn't mind this some people may like to be a little more central. Atmosphere seemed a little weird at times - people hang around in one area to use the WIFI, not much interaction so be aware if you re a solo traveller, you need to put the hours in! Beers at bar could be cheaper
Good atmosphere since there is a trivia every night which makes it easy to meet people over a beer, about 7 min walk from the main street with the supermarket and all the shops, nice garden to chill out with hammocks, helpful staff (especially Alice). You're gonna have a nice surprise every day around 16:00 when a bunch of kokotu birds come over near the bar and in exchange for some bread they're willing to sit on you arm :)
Lovely place to stay - nice chilled atmosphere, helpful friendly staff. A great place to relax and unwind before/after the Whitsunday Islands. 5 mins walk from the main street, far enough way to avoid all the party scene but close enough to still get involved!
Lovely small and friendly hostel. The only thing that let it down for me was location. It's a bit of a walk especially in the heat and carrying things eg, food shopping/towel etc compared to other hostels that were in the town. But enjoyed my stay.
Nice chilled out place, friendly helpful staff.
A really friendly, relaxed, easy going hostel. Perfect for a short stay in Airlie with friends!
Great hostel. I am traveling alone and didn't want to stay in a huge party hostel. The staff were friendly and very helpful, the place is at the end of the road but is only a 5 minute walk to pubs, clubs and shops. Great atmosphere in the hostel and the hammocks in the gardens were a lovely touch! Would definitely stay again. Thanks Backpackers by the Bay

Really helpful owner (Peter) friendly atmosphere and nice relaxed little hostel. Clean rooms, toilets etc even had incense and hand towels in the toilet. Like the idea of a quiz every night gets people talking and you can win a bottle of champagne. Would definatley go back, only negative is a little further out of the Main Street.
I had a great stay in this hostel, already from the beginning where i was picked up from the bus stop. The staff is really friendly and helpful. Every evening is a quiz at the terrace. I can fully recommend this hostel :)
This hostel is GREAT. Socialising is easy, staff is friendly and there is something to do every night. It is one street out of the main street, which means you have a quiet place to sleep. There's a swimming pool, great hammocks, clean kitchen, breakfast for cheap rates. Also good mattresses, clean rooms, lockers provided, benches to put all your stuff on. Slept really well. Wifi works average but all the rest totally makes up for that!
Near bus stop, 5 min to city center, very clean, nice staff, hammocks for lazy days, no free wifi but would recommend!
Very chilled out place. Not very much going on and a bit of a walk out of town. Staff are friendly and helpful. I thought there was better hostels around town for better value
Friendly staff. It's a little out of Airlie Beach centre but not far. Only a five minute walk. A quieter hostel on Airlie which some may prefer. Would stay again.
Really nice little hostel, two mins away from bus stop but they will still pick you up. Rooms are nice, wifi is cheap and actually quite fast. Lots of recommendations from the staff and they are also very helpful. The best bit is the view which is lovely in the morning eating breakfast. Pool and hammocks a nice touch and the atmosphere is pretty nice. I stayed another night at another hostel which was cheaper but I should have stayed at backpackers at the bay again so def recommend
