the kitchen was in very bad shape, dirty, almost no dishes and no cutlery and not enough space to cook and the room I slept in was dirty from the start (food on the floor) and we had to tell the cleaning staff to please clean the floor also because they hadn't done it for days

There were no safes or lockers in my room! The location is great and is central to all the city services and amenities. The staff were quite pleasant and helpful to me. The atmosphere was very typical of a hostel, but I guess the noise from the bar can be quite confronting at times. The place just seemed dirty, flies everywhere. The mens showers on the first floor are terrible and lack privacy. Also my room was right by the cooking vent exhausts causing my room to reek of cooking odour

The Front Desk folks were very helpful. I really didn't get a chance to enjoy the pub much because I was in town for a conference, but the $9 Burger & Brew was a real deal. I'll be back there when I have time to have some fun.

There was a slight mix-up we had after we added an additional person to our room, but it eventually got sorted out after a bizarrely confrontational exchange.

They really have to improve the cleanliness but for the rest it's a cool hostel with a really nice staff. You feel it safe and the location is really good. Just too loud the week-end if you're not here for partying.

The hostel has a great location and the bar downstairs is always lively. The staff were all really helpful and sound! Overall it was great for us and the free muffin and coffee in the morning was well needed!

The only two good things about this hostel is the central location, and the fact that there is a bar downstairs. Other than that, it is pretty mediocre. Not easy to meet people and socialize, and the place is generally old and dingey. But as stated, in a suprb location to downtown with bars and restaurants nearby.

the hostel is in bad condition, old and no renovation done as it would needed. coming from south america this hostel is very bad, old, no real common rooms, no chill out area, poor kichten and bathrooms. its so bad going to a hostel in north america, owners dont get what travellers like. vancouver is too expensive for a hotel!!! location is not bad, but lots of homeless people here. nightstaff is fun to hang out with. to meet other cool people is hard here, no cool traveler atmosphere!!!

Very good location and above best pub ever! Book the 8 bed dorm cos you get your own bathroom (and the other bathrooms are grim).

The place is in an awesome location with a buzzing bar underneath. Social, basic and all in all just what you'd expect from a hostel. If your one that likes their sleep get a room on the second floor as it gets noisy at the bar.

Very nice place in excellent location. Stayed in one of the mixed dorms this time and some of the lockers were broken. I had to leave the window open the whole night because it looked like it would fall apart if you touched it. A lot of smoke (cigaret and weed!) came through it.

ABSOLUTLEY TERRIBLE!!! Very rude, unorganized staff. The only thing good about this hostel is that it is upstairs from a fun bar. THATS IT. Super dodgey neighborhood, very old & dirty accommodation, and practically ZERO security... I was in the womens bathroom brushing my teeth and had someone BREAK IN through the window. The whole window fell through the window frame into the washroom a FOOT AWAY from me. The burgeler scurried away once I screamed and when I told staff, they did NOTHING!!!!!

The hostel inside was comfortable enough, cosy rooms and it was great to have a free breakfast at the sweet cafe next door. I wouldn't stay here again though, it didn't feel safe, I witnessed a drug dealer entering the hostel and selling drugs outside to many drug addicts who would hang around outside the door. I found this strange that they could walk in and out of the hostel as they pleased seeing as you needed a key to open the front door. It just didn't feel safe at all.
