No frills - not even a kettle in the kitchen. Bare-bones; should have been renovated long ago: sloping floors and graffiti are maybe a little "rough"; other things are more serious. Most rooms have no en suite bathroom. The 2nd fl women's shower/bathroom is so cramped, you can barely open the door! No privacy, nowhere to put clothes except on the bathroom floor. The itchy welts i got on night 2 were taken seriously - I was moved, but not refunded. Rooms directly above the bar are loud til 1 am.

It was a great hostel with friendly staff. Lots of people starting out on a working holiday visa just like me so I made friends really easily :-)

Basic but nice & CLEAN hostel, Gastown seems a long way from downtown but we found it to be a handy spot. Beautiful old building with a ton of character. Staff were pleasant but ultimately not super helpful and there was a distance lack of tours/walks/etc compared to say the YHI hostels do. Bar/restaurant was nice, meals were huge and of good quality. Free breakfast wasn't explained upon check in (clumsy, you have to get a coupon, fill it out, then walk outside to a cafe to redeem it). 3.5/5

Found the staff poorly informed and rude. Received incorrect information and felt unwelcome. Rooms are basic at best and averagely cleaned. Kitchen is nearly nonexistent. Other guests were friendly and the bar downstairs was enjoyable.

Its really loud in the nights, because of the bar downstairs. But the hostel is fine, all in all.

The staff was very rude and it seems like they are know for it, everybody sees it as the price to pay for the great location they have but I shouldnt be like that. The bathrooms were poorly cleaned and very uncomfortable. But the people staying in the Hostel were great which made our stay better.

Good location, helpful staff, clean rooms and common areas, good pub downstairs. Just a warning though the free breakfast is not really free, its a free coffee in the downstairs cafe and a wrap for $2 and the kitchen here is tiny. Some decent places to eat nearby though.

very convenient location from the subway. the staff were very friendly and helpful! the pub below was a good draw and provided very good entertainment. room was simple and clean. a bench or table might be useful and the double deck bed was too high, I could not sit up without hitting my head! but thats fine because the hostel gives you value for money!

Great Location Central to everything. Fun Sports bar down stairs. Wide and comfy bunk beds

Nice, clean, great location near gastown bars and cafes, bar on the ground floor that is a great place to get your sea legs before venturing out into the cold. Nice big bunk bed in our 2-person private room. Plenty warm. Clean shared bathroom the whole time we were there (wed-fri nights). No curfew - we came home at 4 one night and 5:30 another with no problem.

This hostel is amazing! It is so much fun, the staff are great and the beds are HUGE! The bar is really fantastic and they have a lot of great deals on during the week. The bar is in a great location in the middle of Gastown and a 5 minute walk to Downtown Vancouver. The hallways and rooms are a little lopsided but that adds to the fun! Small common area (However I never saw more than 5 people in there at any time) and kitchen is good. I will definitely be back such a fun hostel with great staff

Awesome staff, excellent service, no problems with anything. No crazy druggies though in cambie. Super fun and fairly clean! A good price too. We were all very happy with our stay.

Quite cold in the common room and the kitchen is realy small. No glass only 4-5 cups for all the hostel. Otherwise, everything was perfect!!

Rooms were ok, bathroom was not... The showercabine was way to small (1 m2) with no hooks to hang your clothes on or towel and you can only leave your shoes outside of the cabine. Not handy at all. There was a pub in the hostel (which is nice), but there was no kitchen to prepare food or get cutlery/plates/etc. I will never come here again.

Owner Comment (Show)
I'm not sure where you were staying but it obviously was not this hostel. On our first floor we have a very large, full kitchen in which to prepare food. It is fully kitted out with pots, pans, crockery, fridge, stove, microwave - everything you could possibly ask for in a kitchen. The shower stall are all about 1 m2 - which is the standard size for a shower stall - the stall in my own apartment is the same size. And to address the hook issue, outside every stall there is a hook upon which to hang your robe and towels. I fully appreciate constructive criticism, but misinformation is unfair and not at all helpful for other travellers.
