the hostel is in bad condition, old and no renovation done as it would needed. coming from south america this hostel is very bad, old, no real common rooms, no chill out area, poor kichten and bathrooms. its so bad going to a hostel in north america, owners dont get what travellers like. vancouver is too expensive for a hotel!!! location is not bad, but lots of homeless people here. nightstaff is fun to hang out with. to meet other cool people is hard here, no cool traveler atmosphere!!!

Very good location and above best pub ever! Book the 8 bed dorm cos you get your own bathroom (and the other bathrooms are grim).

Very nice place in excellent location. Stayed in one of the mixed dorms this time and some of the lockers were broken. I had to leave the window open the whole night because it looked like it would fall apart if you touched it. A lot of smoke (cigaret and weed!) came through it.

The place is in an awesome location with a buzzing bar underneath. Social, basic and all in all just what you'd expect from a hostel. If your one that likes their sleep get a room on the second floor as it gets noisy at the bar.

ABSOLUTLEY TERRIBLE!!! Very rude, unorganized staff. The only thing good about this hostel is that it is upstairs from a fun bar. THATS IT. Super dodgey neighborhood, very old & dirty accommodation, and practically ZERO security... I was in the womens bathroom brushing my teeth and had someone BREAK IN through the window. The whole window fell through the window frame into the washroom a FOOT AWAY from me. The burgeler scurried away once I screamed and when I told staff, they did NOTHING!!!!!

The hostel inside was comfortable enough, cosy rooms and it was great to have a free breakfast at the sweet cafe next door. I wouldn't stay here again though, it didn't feel safe, I witnessed a drug dealer entering the hostel and selling drugs outside to many drug addicts who would hang around outside the door. I found this strange that they could walk in and out of the hostel as they pleased seeing as you needed a key to open the front door. It just didn't feel safe at all.

Our stay was great. The bar downstairs is always lively, the staff are helpful and nice throughout the night and the complimentary breakfast next door was a fantastic way to start the day. As far as hostels go the Cambie is solid. I plan on staying there again my next time in Vancouver.

Just fix the shower heads on the first floor in the men's and you'll be perfect. They must have a strong flow and be wide spray. Travellers and partyers need this.

It should be said (in the ad) that the bar is really directly under the dorms, so that those who really just want to sleep are warned ;)

We were greeted by an unfriendly lady at the front desk who told me to "hold on" when I said we wanted to check in. Our room was clean enough upon arrival however it had a very distinct and unpleasant odor. The bar & grill itself was nice enough during the day but could be heard from the room even at 2 in the morning. Both I and my boyfriend woke up in the middle of the night extremely itchy from what we have now realized was probably bed bugs (we both have bites) and checked out at 2:30 AM.

Definitely one of the better hostels out there. Good vibes, super friendly people. The staff was excellent. Anthony at the front desk was always extremely helpful and friendly, and gave excellent recommendations as to how to spend my time in Vancouver. Overall, a great hostel.
