Really nice hostel, staff are very friendly and helpful. The bar/lounge area is huge with a great selection of beers and priced well. The location of this hostel is good, close walking distance to Granville as well as some great bars in Gastown, would recommend the Lamp Light, awesome place! Would stay in this hostel again.

Everything was great. The electronic key-cards gave us a bit of trouble though.

The Cambie Hostel was nice place in great Gastown area. Lot of facilities around. You will meet other people easily in this hostel. Only negative thing are that our (2 w dorm) didn't have any mirror and plugs were at impractical places e.g. ahead of lower bed (had to bend over her bed). Some rooms did have mirror, so could ask one of them and it would be fine.

The Cambie Gastown exceeded all of my expectations and made liars out of all negative reviewers I saw prior to booking. The bedrooms and bathrooms are kept flawlessly clean, easily accessible, very secure, with friendly staff, an excellent atmosphere and good company for what I paid - thirty bucks a night. I plan on visiting Vancouver often, and The Cambie Gastown will be my first choice for accommodation every time. - Marco F

No, I did not stay there, although I had to pay a day's accommodation. People that work in the front desk do not have any idea about customer service they are absolutely unprofessional, unfriendly and plain obvious RACISTS AND HYPOCRITE ! They might have work permit to work in Canada but I believe if the owner or owners would care they can actually find a decent workers.

If you are looking for a hostel with a loud bar beneath it, you found the one! The bathrooms were pretty small and not very inviting, same with the common room. The bar downstairs, on the other hand, seemed to be the most popular place in Vancouver. However, there was an instance with a roach running across the bar which was disheartening. Despite being not the cleanest place (I slept with jeans on), it was in a good location right in Gastown and down the street from the New Amsterdam bar, w

The hostel itself is alright, though I was only there for one night. Nice beer at the bar downstairs, and the staff were nice.
