Casa del Shiva Reviews

The Casa del Shiva is a really great place to stay. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, there's air conditioning available everywhere, a pool, and the breakfasts are great and home cooked. Lots of reviews seem to complain about the location, but that's rubbish, there are two beer shops, a supermarket and a cash machine no more than a 5min walk away. Yes, it's not downtown, but a 5 peso ride on a colectivo takes you right into the centre. All in all, a top hostel.

I had a great time at Casa del Shiva. Everyone is very friendly, the house is great with a big courtyard, pool and lounge area. The food was great and it is an excellent place to hang out, meet people and go and discover Playa del Carmen.

Awsome hostel!! great building, great pool, super clean!!! The staff were so friendly.. Nice selection for breakfast including eggs and ham!!! The dinners were the best really cheap and excellent quality!!! Loved the chicken casserole!! Huge chill out outdoor setting, great for drinks and to meet new people, location good as easy to get to the centre. Great hostel!! loved it!!

This was the best hostel that I stayed at in playa del carmen. It was immaculately clean and the dorm was really spacious. Excellent outdoor area with large pool, kitchen, tables, chairs, hammocks, beds... Would recommend to anyone whether they want to relax or party.

Owner and staff were so friendly. Cleanest hostel I\'ve ever stayed at. Good location as not too far from everything. Breakfast and dinner amazing each day,great value for money. It\'s a shared house atmosphere and you are made to feel part of the family by the staff. They can\'t do enough for you. Thoroughly recommend it. I checked out the other hostels around 5th ave and they were rubbish.Typical dirty, horrible looking party hostels.It was great to stay somewhere so incredibly clean and friendly

What an amazing place, feels like a real home from home... Great atmosphere, great location, great pool, great rooms and the greatest hostess... Siobhan is a true traveller, who knows what a traveller needs, comfort... If you are in playa, (and we have been several times) you have to stay here...!!! Not sure what the previous review was talking about, a bad smell in the toilet? Crazy...!!! 100%, and I don't give it lightly...!!!!!!!

Lovely people and really nice place to stay. Nice clean pool, kitchen, hangout area, TV and computer you can use. Unfortunately it is way out of town (30-40min walk or take a colectivo). I stayed in the cheapest dorm and it was very clean but the bathroom has a really strong, strange smell (not drains or anything, no idea what that was!)

Casa Del Shiva was a fantastic place to stay and would highly recommend to other travelers. Breakfast was supplied and there was a varied choice which the manager would cook for us. Clean and quiet the nights we stayed. Manager spoke English and was very accommodating and helpful. The hostel is quite a way out of the town, however, there are plenty of buses and collectivo\'s to take you into centro and the beach. Anyway there is always the pool, a nice respite from the pesky tourists.

We loved our stay at this hostel- the owners we wonderfully helpful and try so hard to create a community environment. Don't let the location of the place keep you from staying there- it's only a 5 minute ($0.40) bus ride from the beach.

We really enjoyed this place because of the nice and helpful staff, beautiful/clean rooms and excellent service. The breakfast were made individually. For a small amount, they offered to make dinner for all the guests which were a great way to exchange experienses and just talk (the host is an excellent chef). Don\'t worry about the location, take the FREE BIKES, take the local \"collectivos\" for 5 pesos or grap a cap and enjoy the local surroundings before you get to the americanized end of town

my astay at Casa del Shiva was so great that i'm coming back in a few months, thee food is delicious, the free breakfast...amazing, the owner is really welcome and pretty, :p 100% i'm coming back!

So cute, run by the nicest people!! it was a haven from the crazy areas of downtown playa. I really enjoyed my stay!

Shiva´s house rocks! Siobhan was an excellent hostess, making our stay more than comfortable. Casa del Shiva is a bit away from the action of the town, but its a 5peso bus ride in, so, with the money you save on accommodation, it evens out. Plus there is a great chilled-out atmosphere and an awesome pool. Breakfast was also awesome. We booked for 3 nights, but ended up staying a week! Keep up the good work Siobhan, and good luck. x

Really enjoyed my stay here, was a friendly, relaxed atmosphere with some great home cooked meals provided by the owner Shivaughn!!!

I had an amazing time here! I totally recommend it. Rooms are super clean and spacious. Staff are great, They gave me a lot of information on where to go and what to do on this beautful city. Casa del Shiva is the perfect place to relax, have fun. and meet other travellers!

We were one of the first guests at this Hostel and our stay was great. A bit away from the beach but the walk is fine and there's plenty of collectivos. Super clean and the lady who runs the place is super friendly. Has a pool and an awesome outside BBQ area. When you rock up it seems pretty ghetto outside, but inside is tops. Nice rich homely vibe.

Casa del Shiva was fantastic, great value for money and beautiful , made my stay in Mexico even more Special , I cant wait to book up again and get out there. The food was really great, and the place was immaculate and so fresh and clean. Already looking into my next trip and of course I will stay in this fabulous establishment. The staff and owner were very kind and friendly really niche atmosphere. Thank you !!!!!

My stay at Casa del Shiva was so enjoyable I stayed for 2 extra days. Great hostel, fab food, informative staff, I'll defo be back guys!! Loved it!
