Welcome to Castanea Old Town Hostel, one of the most central hostels in Stockholm.
This is a small, personal hostel, located in the middle of the Old Town (Gamla Stan), one of the best-preserved medieval city centres in the world. Castanea is a modern hostel in a charming building from 1747 with a beautiful horse chestnut tree at a small square just outside.
In our hostel there are 55 beds. You can stay in dorms or private rooms; we have single, twin, four- or six-bed private rooms. All rooms have shared shower and toilet. In our dormitory we have lockers; bring your own padlock or rent from us. There's also a popular guest kitchen for your own cooking.
We have a free guest computer as well as free Wi-Fi in most rooms.
Our surroundings have stories to tell. To stroll through the streets is to travel through history. We're only 200 meters from the Royal Palace in Gamla Stan and near tourist attractions, shops, cafés and restaurants. Castanea is also close to Central Station, only one stop with the underground.

Very pleasant place to stay - excellent location right in the heart of Gamla Stan. I was in a 4-bed dorm which was tiny (and would've been quite a squeeze if we didn't all have small weekend bags) but I had everything I needed - the beds were comfy and clean, the bathrooms were very clean, and the hostel was quiet at night so I got a good night's sleep after a day spent sight-seeing. Would definitely stay again.

Cancellation Policy
This property has a 2 day cancellation policy.Failure to cancel within this time will result in a cancellation charge equal to the first night of your stay.
Things to Note
Check-in: 1500 - 1800. For arrivals before 1500 or after 1800 please contact us two-to-four days before arrival to arrange for check-in. We have a 48hr cancellation policy. Late cancellations and no-shows shall be charged the equivalent of the first night's accommodation.
Sheets and towels can be hired (65 SEK/person one-time fee) or you can bring your own. Please note that either way bed linen must be used. Sleeping bags are not allowed due to hygienic reasons.
Smoking is not permitted.
Pets are not permitted.
We're open all year.
