Absolutely perfect stay here! Staff were incredibly friendly & helpful with tips on what to see/do/eat in Stockholm. Breakfast was excellent in the cafe downstairs that was recommended by the hostel. Nice & cozy; dorm room area was a bit tight - just a heads up if you have a lot of luggage with you (which I didn't). Very highly recommended as this is in a gorgeous part of Gamla Stan and everything is within walking distance or by metro. Thanks so very much for a super awesome stay;0)

Great location and really clean, but the atmosphere is boring, there's no a huge contact with the staff so is difficult to measure, there's no breakfast and the reception should be 24 hours.

A great hostel in a great location in the middle of the old town in Stockholm. A nice atmosphere and very nice reception staff. We enjoyed the time staying in the hostel and can recomend the hostel to everyone who is looking for a nice and cheap place to stay in the capital. The kitchen was the most clean hostel kitchen we have ever seen.

After a 5-night-stay at the Castanea, i like to think of it as a magnet for pleasant, interesting characters with the right amount of common sense - and in this description the helpful staff totally fits in. The main functions, e.g. kitchen and bathrooms, work well, there's even enough air to breath for everyone in the dorm, thanks to the high ceiling. However, the locker could be more quiet in handling. But still will I definitely book there again! Jan, from Germany

Staff was very helpful all the time. one of the most appealing thing was that the hostel was extremely silent. I didnt have any problems with noise, which I care about a lot. The only slight problem is that there is no kitchen in downstairs and there is only one toilet there. Other than that, I believe it was a smart thing to choose Castanea.

We had a great stay. No complaints. Only one suggestion. It would be nicer to have a washing machine in the hostel.

This hostel has very good location and this is main privilege. Rooms are very small. Towels and bed sheets are not included and you should pay for it. Toilets and especially showers leaves much to be desired. Anyway it was not bad stay.

A really nice hostel. I loved the location because all major attractions were within a walking distance. The hostel was quiet and clean. There were enough bathrooms and the kitchen was well-equipped. I will definitely stay there again if I come back to Stockholm.

My buddy and I arrived in the wee hours of the morning but were received graciously by the owners whom we awakened at 3am to let us in. The next day we were welcomed as though we were regular guests. Our itinery for the day included many hours of unguided Nordic ice skating on Lake Malaren utilizing public transport to get to our starting point. Castenea staff went out of their way to assist us with all of our inquiries and even were considerate enough to be concerned of our well being again

This place was great but it did have its flaws. The doorway on the street was a bit easy to miss. On entering we were greeted by a very friendly member of staff who diligently showed us around all the facilities and to our room. The downside was the size of the room, a 6 ft by 8 ft box which just squeezed in two single beds and enough room to store two bags. However, it was very clean and reasonably warm. The shower room and kitchen were great and there was ample toilet facilities for everyone.
