It's sooo lovely with the wood floor and free wifi and free sauna. You can even borrow the ice skating shoes for free from the hostel. The staffs are very nice. Love it!

Ah, you noticed the floors! I will pass this on to the owner, he will be so pleased. This is the first time someone mentions the wooden floors in a review, and he's put so much effort into them. I'm also happy you made good use of our ice skates, I just had them all sharpened. Thank you for the great review, and welcome back anytime! Kindly Lena

Great location (walkable from train station) and the kitchen area is great for meeting other backpackers. The free pasta doesn't hurt either!

Brilliant hostel which organises its own events and tours, and has free pasta and ice skates for all guests to use!! I was well impressed.

Great way to meet people and they organize events. Have to pay for bed sheets. Free pasta is a bonus!

the hostel was pretty great. Honestly im not a fan of sleeping in a 12 bedroom room, but Stockholm is very expensive to stay. The door to my room was very loud in the morning when everyone was in and out. but other than that this place was lovely.

Hi there, I'm glad you decided to invest your savings in a trip to Stockholm in spite of our reputation of being expensive - It's nice to see some Americans back finally, we've been missing you guys during recession! Anyway, here's my top three things of stuff which is cheaper in Stockholm than anywhere else: No 3: Fishing - it's free within the city borders, and you can catch real delicious fish like trout and salmon. Safe to eat too, since the water in the lake is perfectly clean. No 2: The opera - you can get last minute tickets for the offensively cheap price of 50 SEK sometimes, less than half the price a ticket to the cinema! No 1: LIVING! Rents are low here, and we have the biggest population of people living alone in the whole world. So all you have to do is have a Swede fall in love with you, and you can simply move into their apartment and stay the rest of your life in the best place on earth! Cheers, Lena

One of a few hostels that actually has a good atmosphere in Scandanavia. Facilities are great and the organised activities are fantastic - definitely well worth doing. Staff fantastic.

Thank you, I appreciate that you have stayed at other hostels in Scandinavia and see the difference. I think the secret is we don't market towards big groups of Swedes. Of course there is always the odd Swede staying here, we wouldn't discriminate our own people, but to be honest with you, a hostel full of Swedes is awfully quiet. We can't help it, we're just really, really shy. So, to get a good atmosphere in the hostel, we do our best to attract the right guests. And I must say we have awesome guests. Any day of the year you will meet at least 50 young independent travellers from all over the world. And it's a joy to organise activities for you guys, I have the best job in the world! Cheers, Lena, Chief of the City Backpacker Fun Squad

Hahaha, telling a Swede to chill out is like telling a fish to get a bathing suit! We can't chill out, we are far to worried about things being neat and orderly, and no evil bacteria anywhere, and things running smoothly and on time. If you see a Swede chilling out he's probably dead. But other than that, we're alright. And the hostels are clean! Cheers, Lena

one of the best hostels I've ever been in! The staff's are friendly and they have various programs everyday and night. The best part was a small sauna in the hostel which you could use it for free every evening. The walking tour of the city was nice too.

Tank you for those kind words, it's good to hear you enjoyed my walking tour in spite of the cold! But I must say you are pretty strict in your ratings, since you say City Backpackers is one of the best hostels ever, and still rate us eight points below our average... Kindly Lena, rolling up her sleeves to do better!

Luggage storage is questionable in terms of security.... Was charged for bed sheets separately, which is strange for me. Beds are very comfortable. Place is very clean. Location is great. Internet connection is fast and there is a publicly available printer!

The place itself was very nice. I guess I had a bad impression when I checked-in and the lady spoke to a Swedish girl on where to go etc when I just had a long train ride and all I wanted to do is check in.. but the place itself was very nice. Clean and the people were friendly!

Ah, I'm sorry you had to wait to check in, I know exactly how that feels! I was on a delayed flight to Germany recently, and arrived at the hostel three o'clock in the morning. All I wanted to do was throw myself in bed, but the receptionist insisted on making me tea and telling me all there was to know about the city. Very sweet of him, just bad timing! Hope you ended up having a nice time in Stockholm regardless, kindly Lena

Maybe the best hostel i have been

A great hostel close to the centre of town. Really good facilities that were always clean. Security seemed to be an issue during our stay, with notices about computer thefts being put up around the hostel. We stayed in a private room, which was absolutely perfect for our needs. Must recommend staying for a Friday and going to the Viking Sauna tour. Lena is a wonderful tour guide and it is an unforgettable experience!

Owner Comment (Show)
Ah, you are making me blush here! I just got home from another Viking Sauna Tour, and I've gotta say it's getting more badass every week. The sea is now completely frozen over with a ten centimetre thick layer of ice - it took me ages to hack a hole with the axe so we could get in! But Stockholm is truly beautiful when the temperature gets this low, 13 degrees minus, the trees all look like they've been dipped in sugar. The security problems is mainly because our guests feel a little bit too at home. We try to remind everyone not to leave their valuables unattended, and we do have lockers in all the dorms, but every now and then some guest just is too trusting, and leaves their lap top on the bed while going out all day. It's really important to remember that regardless how lovely your dorm mates seem, you don't really know them, and not everyone is as honest as they seem. Other than that, we really never have any security problems (knock on wood). Cheers Lena

Excellent location, free pasta and the coziest room for chatting conquered my heart) the best hostel in Stockholm for reasonable price! Met some cool people in there and had great time last night in stoc) additional fee for bed linen is not that pleasant but this is pricy stoc, anyway.
