The hostel is situated in Tiantou village which is about forty minutes climb from the car park at the foothill. There are beautiful view of rice terraces right in front of the hostel and the three scenic spots are only about half an hour to an hour climb from the hostel. The room is very clean and the staff is very pleasant and helpful.
The hostel itself was excellent, but I was very annoyed by the directions. The directions stopped at Dazhai which is a 40 minute walk from the hostel. Since the hostel did not tell us which way to go, we asked the locals who led us in the wrong direction (probably because we don't speak chinese), and were lost for 3 hours. There are many trails that can be taken, and only one leads to the hostel, I cannot believe we were not informed about which one to take.
The hostel is on a great location with a great view of the rice terraces. The food is good, the prices are reasonable. The beds aren't the most comfortable ones, but it's okay. The toilets are typical asian toilets (like the ones in public restsrooms), the shower is above. This means the floor is alway wet, but they provide slippers, so thats fine. All in all it's not as nice as the usual hostel (but it's in a remote area, so that'S fine), but the view certainly is worth it!
A scenic hostel in Dazhai village, offering awe-inspiring views of the nearby rice terraces. It's a rather confusing 40-minute uphill walk from the foot of the mountain, so those with heavy luggage beware. The dorms are clean and spacious, and the beds comfortable. No western toilets, but facilities are clean. The staff tended to be quite apathetic, and the food is overpriced and fairly poor. The Wi-Fi connection was unstable. Overall, though, a good (& cheap) base to explore the terraces.
Nice location just by the paddies fileds! You'll have to hike a bit to get there but that's worth the effort. Nice staff, good viewpoints 15 to 30mins from the hostel...good place to relax and enjoy mother Nature!
The whole location plan is very very imprecise!! From Guilin to Dazhai Village and up to the hostel it takes between 4 and 5 hours!! There was nothing mentioned in the descripton that we have to walk up the hill for about 45 Minutes! OK, there is the possibility to let someone carry your luggage up the hill, but this are all women and they are about 40 years older than me. (so actually that was not a opportunity for me).
Simple facilities, but great place for location and very charming.
