Hostel is located half way up the rice terraces and quite a bit of a walk (40 minutes), so don't bring too much luggage! Bunks were as hard as they are usually in Chinese YH - but okay. Staff was very friendly and eager to help - but don't let people tell you not to take the hike to Ping'an - it can be done in about 3 hours (one way) - I liked it and would come again - no lockers though!
Dont carry too much stuff, it's a good way up to the hostel. But once you reach the hostel - enjoy it. Great location to all viewpoints. And once again the volunteers earns respect, great work!
It's an okay place to stay one night. It's cheap, beds are okay for one night (if sleeping on a playwood is not a problem) The view from the Hostel is beautiful. Food is tasty and cheap if you are ready to wait 45minutes. At the time we have been there they didn't have rice... Seriously? In the middle of the rice terrasses...
Important: Please note that it has NO WESTERN TOILETS. Located at the entrance of Tiantouzhai, and about 30min away from the nearest bus stop in Dazhai village. Great spot to stay to see the sunrise. Had a friend staying at "Dazhai Dragon's Den" and my impression was that it had a better atmosphere. He had a western toilet in his room :). Overpriced food, as most of the village. Although everyone seems lazy and will advice you not to, hike to Ping'An (3 to 4 hrs).
