The location was pretty great for the city. It was definitely a little hidden, i'm lucky i remembered that the hostel was close to a pizza place otherwise i would have walked right by it. Would be nice to have a sign outside. The hostel was decently clean, but the kitchen floor felt like it was covered in greasy grime. this was particularly gross since we can't wear shoes in the hostel. Jason was a great guy. i wish the hostel was a little more social, no events planned for the weekend.

I request the staff to maintain bathrooms more clean and tidy.

I spent four nights at this hostel and I really liked it! The atmosphere is really chilled out and fun... the staff members, who are always around, are incredibly nice and helpful. In the morning they give you free cofee and delicious pancakes. You can do your laundry for free (they even give you free soap!!!). The area is nice and quite calm and it's only a ten minute walk to Union Station and Capitol Building. I really loved this hostel and when I go back to DC I'll defenately stay here again

It's a super nice hostel, with very friendly staff and very clean rooms. The beds are really comfy, and it's really convenient that you can use the washer and dryer when the hostel aren't using them. I also like that there is no check out time or anything, so you can leave whenever you want. The area is quite shady unfortunately, so as a girl walking alone I was too scared to walk from Union Station and home at night. Also they charge your card 2 days in advance which they didn't inform me of.

Rooms are small and there is practically no closet, but the hostel is clean and staff was very helpful with everything I needed.

This hostel was amazing value for money! The atmosphere is fab, the staff are great and get involved in the social and friendly lounge( Jason even walked me to the greyhound bus station at midnight!) Russel's free pancake breakfast is delicious, there are lockers for your valuables(but bring a padlock) and the rooms are nicely decorated, comfortable and clean. Perfect place to meet great people and a perfect location from which to explore Washington!

I was there for two nights only but really enjoyed my stay at this hostel. People were very nice and helpful, the room was pretty cosy for a hostel, it was clean, they have this waterproof layer on the matress, which is very good to keep it neat. The location is also pretty good, close to Union station... free breakfast, free laundry, free wifi.. really good for such a good price!

Great hostel with very nice atmosphere. I would definitely book it again!

This is the third hostel I've stayed at in D.C. and it is by far my favorite. I was only booking for one night, but more rooms became available and ended up staying for 4. The staff and every hosteler I met was so friendly and the environment was really relaxed. Staff are always around or hanging out and willing to help. The only downside was the number of bathrooms/showers, so you may have to wait at times-a minor inconvenience for the overall experience. My D.C. hostel from now on!

Pancake breakfast is always a great way to get everyone together, and created a lovely morning atmosphere. This is a really homely place to stay right near the train station and sights of Washington.

This a great place for travelers who wanted to save money while having a good and awesome time relaxing from the long day sightseeing undertakings...

VERY nice people create a wonderful atmosphere to hang out and meet other travelers. Everyone is very helpful and talkative, and homemade breakfast is very good. They really make you feel home away from home, so I would recommend anyone going to Washington to try this place. It is within walkable distance to the Mall, Union Station and Greyhound buses

I've been travelling around the US for a few months now and I have to say this is the best hostel I've had the pleasure of staying in yet. The staff are amazing and go above and beyond to try and make sure you have the best stay. The chill out room and kitchen are a great place to hangout and there's a wii and netflix if you can't find enough things to do in Washington (which is impossible!). The location is great and Union Station metro is only a short walk away. Make sure to stay here!

Everything a hostel needs and more! When you arrive at this place you immediately feel welcome, there's an ideal common room with all necessary accessories and it's great for meeting up with other travelers. Staff is very friendly and participates in socializing. The locations is perfect, close to the metro and on a charming street. This hostel is a must see!

yoo wazzup? if you are in washington DC you most go to this hostel, the hostel has a good location and just right cross the street you have an liquer store. they have cheap beers, and the guys that work there are kind and funny :). the hostel staff is awesome. they really take care of you, you even get you own guide, so you can find happy hour. and they get you pizza the day after. we rally enjoying our 5 days there and we miss the staff alot. we love Veronica. // the swedish guys =)

Great location staff are happy to help you with anything, pancakes were super awesome and wouldn't hesitate to reckomend any one to stay there.

so happy! :) I was in DC a few weeks ago and really felt like i was "coming home" when I came back to Downtown Washington Hostel! Bright, cheerful, and always something fun going on and someone new and friendly to meet -- the best "travelers" hostel in DC by far!!

I\'ve stayed at every hostel in DC in the past few months, but I avoided this one due to a few reviews that claimed it had bed bugs. But I heard a lot of good things as well, and because it was very convenient to my destination, I finally took a chance and I have to say this is the best hostel in the city, hands down. The management team is amazing, friendly and professional, and the atmosphere is the most welcoming I\'ve seen anywhere. If there were issues, the management team has fixed them.
