It is a great hostal. Good location, very clean, good facilities and A/C works well in the rooms, which is important in Cartgagena..

nice enough hostel with very helpful staff. The only downsides (for me, anyway) were the immense number of occupants and the breakfast that certainly left a lot to be desired for those that are health conscious. This hostel certainly served its purpose though, cheers.

The hostal was very good, staff is nice. You can sleep well, there is silence. you can take what you want for breakfast. You must wash the dishes but what did you expect? This is a hostal so it's faire enough. Anyway, break fast it's free

Nice and friendly place.

Being handed your own bed sheets to make your own bed does not bode well, as does not being shown to your room. The hostel was noisy, our ac didn't work, the staff were unwilling to help an only did so begrudgingly. The kitchen is awful and not well stocked, no ac in the daytime, and they only do laundry on certain days and were 'full' by late morning so we had to go elsewhere. It may as well be a party hostel. However breakfast is good and the location handy.

Facilities & location is good, but 100% party hostel, don't book if you want a good sleep. Were asked to change room during our stay with no apology; was told to pack and store our belongings in morning & move to new room when return pm (what a joke!). Knowing our bus schedule, the staff said they can call a taxi anytime. End up it was rush hour, no taxi available, and she ask us to get one ourselves on street! Luckily with help of locals, we barely made it. They definitely needs much training.

Playa Blanca tour organised by the hostel tour desk was the worst experience of our trip in south america. We were treated really badly by the boat crew and given "gringo seats" on the boat which made the boat trip life threatening. I really hope the hostel changes the tour company.

The location is great! They have small safes in the rooms which are really nice for some extra security for your valuables. The air conditioner is on between 5pm-11am and keeps the rooms cool enough to sleep comfortably. The breakfast is not very good but there are plenty of places nearby to buy food.

We came from New York city expecting to stay just one night in Cartagena and then go to Santa Marta. Our staying in El Viajero made our trip a bless from begining to end. The location in the historical area is phenomenal, very close to little stores and restaurants for all prices. Moreover it is just 10 mins from the airport. We are very happy with our experince in this hostel eventhough it was just for two nights.

Great place and friendly staff that's always helpful. 10 minute walk to the Clock Tower and 2 minute walk to the nearest square.

I was unimpressed with this hostel. If you are looking for a base to party, this is probably a great hostel, but if you are looking to make friends and meet other traveler its not designed for that. The dorm rooms are standard and the rooms do actually have an air-conditioning unit but the hostel is cheap and turns the unit off during the day so the rooms are never actually cool. The hostel trip desk is well set-up and the trips offered are pretty good. The Santa Marta shuttle is nice.

The best hostel I've stayed in yet. The location is great and the atmosphere really makes the place. I really liked the salsa classes, the staff could have been a little more informative when booking various tours but we figured it out. Overall I would recommend El Viajero and I would stay again myself.

Overall a very good facility and value in many ways. Only major issue I encountered was a often non-existent wi.fi connection available in the second wing/one day for more than a day. One issue that is a negative for the overall facility is its set up limits air flow through the buildings in a very humid city. Would certainly return and send others, Gary

The hostel was fine, quite nicely set out. The rooms were large, with big lockers to put your things and safes in the rooms. Breakfast was ok. The shuttle service to Santa Marta, however, was pretty terrible. Very unorganized - drove dangerously (even for Colombian standards) and I was made to go through Santa Marta to Taganga, then back to Santa Marta because where I wanted to be dropped "wasnt on the way".
