Overall a very good facility and value in many ways. Only major issue I encountered was a often non-existent wi.fi connection available in the second wing/one day for more than a day. One issue that is a negative for the overall facility is its set up limits air flow through the buildings in a very humid city. Would certainly return and send others, Gary

The hostel was fine, quite nicely set out. The rooms were large, with big lockers to put your things and safes in the rooms. Breakfast was ok. The shuttle service to Santa Marta, however, was pretty terrible. Very unorganized - drove dangerously (even for Colombian standards) and I was made to go through Santa Marta to Taganga, then back to Santa Marta because where I wanted to be dropped "wasnt on the way".

Solid and reasonable priced place to stay. It's definitely in a great location as Cartagena is not a big city as every corner is within walking distance. El Viajero leans more towards a party hostel, therefore, if you expect peace and quiet, you might not find it here. The rooms are solid and clean, and there are staffs constantly working around the clock to clean the place up, which is a big plus. There's never shortage of activities to do.

Good location, right in the centre but a little walk from where most of the bars are (10min at most). The free breakfast's not bad, there was cereals, toast, fruit as well as coffee and the guest kitchen's not the worst equipped I've seen but it's not amazing either. Air con in the rooms is quite good but it's hard to have an afternoon nap as the AC's turned off all day and in the courtyard there's no hammocks, just some chairs. Overall a good hostel.

I thought this was a good option for the Old City of Cartegena. While I was happy to have the peace and quiet of the private room building, it does lack on a little bit of atmosphere and the ability to socialize.

Good hostel - dorm rooms clean but he bathrooms were filthy (only down side)... Air conditioned which was a massive bonus. Good TV room

This a monster hostel, easily the biggest we've stayed at during our travels. The result is somewhere there are always loads of washed out people lounging around glued to their phones and iPads. The staff are a pretty miserable bunch as well. It's not all bad though. There is a cinema room and good bar run by an amazing girl who always has a smile on her face. Also the air con is a very nice touch and the hostel is well located in the old town.

Awesome palce to meet people. The rooms are nice and clean. The showers are not dirty but could be improved. The location is great though and the beds and ac are great!

This hostel has one of the best layouts I've ever seen. Right when you enter you have the kitchen, sitting area and cinema -- all 24 hours. The location was good, el centro, a couple blocks from a grocery store. The hostel was all very clean except the kitchen. Breakfast pretty pathetic. All in all a good hostel with a definite party vibe.

Love the little security boxes, especially alongside the huge underbed lockers. Some of the staff were good, others were indifferent, especially the guy who checked me in. I saw other staff members taking ppl to their rooms, and pointing out the bar and more importantly the kitchen. the person who checked me in, was too busy playing with his iPhone to notice me waiting...

Cool hostel with good vibe, nice bar, very safe. All rooms have AC, which is definitely necessary in Cartagena. Staff have little to no idea what's going on inside or outside the hostel.

Good breakfast and the enviroment is great. Cold showers, but Cartagena is so warm that this is not a problem at all. There is no fan in the dorm, which is really warm during the day while the aircon is off - which is not a problem as well, once you are spending the day on the beach or walking around the walled town. Close to the supermarket, restaurants and atm. Definitely recommended.

Great atmosphere, nice people. Wifi was crappy. I moved here from Media Luna because it was too loud: this was just the right mix of party and chilled out atmosphere. As for security, I wasn't too happy with the wooden storage under the bed - big but too easy to open, especially considering that none of the doors can be locked. There were little safes though, big enough for your phone but not for a laptop. Still I think this is one of the best hostels in town and I'd definitely stay here again.

It was my first time on a hostel and was a great experience! The bedrooms are great and the location is very good. It has very good price for the location and structure. But the best thing about it was the DEDITOS! Deditos is a snack served on the breakfast. Have to prove to undertand!

The Hostel is in the old city and not in the "party hostel street", however the area is in walking distance (10-15min) and the old city area offers a lot of bars and restaurant in the night as well. We were happy to stay closer to the old center (we changed hostels and were in the party street outside the old city before). The atmosphere and the facilities are very nicely set up (well equipped kitchen, tables, hammocks, own bar). However, the staff was a bit grumpy sometimes

The hostel building is one of the cool old edifices in the old city. Easy access to all of the old city, plus it's close to the gate to get taxis to the rest of Cartagena. The staff was surprisingly unhelpful and unfriendly for hostel employees, however. There was only one hostel-wide activity during the 6 days we were there and it was to go to a club at another hostel. Moreover, the hostel is shaped like a horseshoe, so you have to worry about everyone bring loud - not just your roommates.

I stayed here for two weeks and would have stayed longer if not for flights that i had booked. Perfectly located. Within walking distance from pretty much everything. The layout is really cool, all the rooms surround a courtyard which makes it hard not to meet people. Bar was great and there was always something happening at night. TV room was perfect for the morning after with airconditioning and netflix :) Staff were super cool and friendly especially the girls. Twas mad fun! luv zach xoxo

We didn't extend our stay because our private double room was next to the bar and it was very noisy till late at night and then again early in the morning.
