Good location, clean, some of the staff are helpful, small kitchen, air con. Over priced compared to others
Nice hostel with big courtyard for meeting people.
I loved the receptionists, all very good. The location is very good too. The only thing (besides the breakfast, there were no fruits - someone alleged me that was very expensive and they were waiting the hostel owner to come back to decide if was going to provide or not) the cleanliness is poor - i stayed for one week and just once someone went in to the room to clean it. The bathrooms were always smelling bad e the baskets full (and falling out) of toilette papers. We have to wash our own dish
Nice hostel, good vibe. Only negative is that the wifi was terrible. It was down for almost 2 days. Otherwise everything else was great.
We loved this hostel. Came back three times and it felt like home. The staff were great and so much fun. They really make the atmosphere conducive to socializing. Love how they have nightly events! This is the hostel for you if you want to meet people and have fun, not so much if you're not there to party.

The hostel is on a good place to travel the historical places. The drinks are too expensive and you pay for a towel 5000 pesos.:-((
The best place to stay in Cartagena. Book in advance to avod disappointment. Well organised, decent tours on offer. Very good free breakfast. The private rooms just up the street are pretty good too. Importantly it has aircon! The showers leave a little to be desired. The staff are very helpful. the better maps of Cartegana than other hostels I stayed in. I liked it so much that I stayed there twice on my way up and down the coast.
Great location. Only complaint was that we were given the wrong information about a tour we booked. Also, with the exception of one girl the staff were not particularly welcoming. The Salsa "teacher" was awful.
Excellent location, friendly staff and a good travel desk for tours. New pillows would be nice though. All in all good choice to stay.
No laundry service was a big minus for me but otherwise a great hostel. Really nice private rooms is a separate building over the road.
Great place, best in town. Chris and Alex are the best
The private rooms are all a block away from the main hostel - which means there is zero atmosphere. I also expect private rooms to have a private bathrooms, especially for this price. Dissapointing stay.
Every night the hostel prepares a small party, with drinks and music. However, these parties are in the front of all the rooms. For those who want to rest from the busy days of walking around (like us), it is a kind of disturbing. Thanks the parties are short. Despite this, we really enjoyed the hostel, specially the staff!
Great location! Clean room and good shower!
We stayed 6 nights! The hostel is nice, central, easy to meet other travellers. Every night from 20u till midnight cocktails and music in the hallway. Its nice, staff is helpfull. If you want a quiet place this is probably not the best. First night we stayed in a dorm, but the aircon was so cold! we changed to a private room, but that's pretty expensive, 120.000 for a private room with shared bathroom. Beds are very comfortable! No hot showers. Breakfast is basic and running out after 9.30pm.
My stay at El Viajero couldn't have been any better. I had a wonderful time and enjoyed my visit; The staff was super friendly and incredibly helpful. The kitchen facility was great and the entertainment room (television room) was equally as enjoyable. I could not have picked a better place to stay during my visit to Cartajena.

Good hostel with a sociable layout and good place to hang out. Aircon rooms are well worth the extra couple of dollars and it's one of the only hostels in the area that has them. Decent breakfast too. Only qualm was that they make you put your own sheets on the bed, which seemed a little ridiculous since they have staff to clean the rooms.
The hostel is very hot with not much air. They fans in the main communal areas are pretty ineffectual. We paid for a private room which was like a dungeon. It said when we booked it it had AC but actually it only had a ceiling fan which was too high up to do anything. The staff were also not very friendly at all- at points quite rude. If you asked then a question the answer with the bare minimum effort possible. Online it looked like it had a bit of atmosphere but this wasn't really the case.

Aircon wasn't on at the rights times/at all or on wrong settings. Very noisy outside rooms. No locks or working safes. Bad breakfast. Staff not very informative and often actually gave wrong info.
We only stayed at El Viajero one night but the atmosphere seemed great. Staff was really nice although they did forget to hand us back our passports and only did when we were going to check out. They have a lot of activities available for guests. If you want a more quiet stay they have a second building right across the street which is less noisy.
