About the staff they tend to speak about unconfortable subjects and they always (some of them of course) seem to be very occupied to even tell you "wait me a minute, please". There is also a thing about the activities the hostel argue to have but when you get there the "activities" are a sign in a wall with suggestions. About cleanliness the 2 nights i stay the floor bathroom was wet the 2 days! only in the morning someone clean that last until 1 or 2.

El Viajero had a great set up with the courtyard and openness, but it was soo cold now that it is winter there! I loved the look of the hostel and it was close to the ocean and downtown. The staff was helpful with questions, but otherwise seemed they seemed to have their own "club" and would party together and not really talk with the guests.

Here is the trick ... book with hostelWorld and get the Deal 3 nights for 2 ... you can then pay only UYU 180 a night (about 7 euros) for a 4 beds-room with bathroom. Apart from that, hostel is quite old and not perfectly clean but location is good, close to supermarket and central, staff is friendly, atmosphere is OK and facilities are fine. Montevideo is not very nice though, not much to do so don't spend more than 3 days I would say !

Really well located hostel, the directions though are a bit misleading as the hostel is actually a few roads up from where they say it is..so maybe google maps it so youre not wandering around! Great breakfast, lovely spacious clean rooms..there is an option to rent a bike for the day, great idea and lovely way to see the city but the hostel charges far too much for bikes of poor quality. Get bikes down the road for less than 1/2 price!c

The hostel is a nice place and we would have enjoyed our stay there if our shoes had not been stolen from the balcony. This is already bad, but what makes it worse is that this was supposedly not the first time that such a thing has happened, but noone has warned us, which would be the staff's job!

We stayed in a double room with private bathroom. Location is good, in new downtown Montevideo. Good WIFI connection. Room had a bad smell and the bed wasn't good. It was also really noisy because it was on streetside.

I had a great time in el Viajero! I would definitely recommend this hostel to other travelers! Very friendly staff, they even let me invite 2 of my friends (who weren't staying at the hostel) my last night to have dinner together.

My room was close to the entrance and very loud, and there were not many bathrooms for the amount of rooms. The staff were nice and they had a pizza and beer night which brought everyone together.

For me this hostel was mediocre. Chief annoyance being that some of the rooms are directly by the bar area and it is impossible to sleep before 1.

Clean hostel with nice rooms and Hot Water. WIFI had a good connection throughout. Lots of activities available to be organised through reception. TV room with couches with movies nice if you wanted a lazy night in, meals are available and appeared quite nice from what others said. Great place to meet other travelers and easy to get to using the bus from the main Terminal. Within walking distance of the main street. Rooms have large fan which they need as they can get warm. Nice place...

Great, good atmosphere and beautiful space! Really fit in well with the city and was so close to all the good things in the Old City. Relaxed environment and everything was very well laid out. No complaints!

We had nice days (and nights) in El Viajero. Going from bus station to the hostel is very easy. The neighbourhood is beautiful and quiet, althought being in downtown. Last but no least, the staff is helpful. Hey, El Viajero's people: "Tengo tu sonrisa en un rincón de mi salvapantallas".
