So nice place, with a great atmosphere, very cute, smiley and helpful staff and I really have no complains about the cleanliness. The location was also good - two minutes from the bus stop and the train station. It is also good if you are going to a concert in O2 arena :). If I have the opportunity to go back in London I would definitely stay in this hostel again :)

My friend and I took such a short trip to London that we weren't very picky about our hostel. I wouldn't say I was blown away by The Great Eastern, but it was a pleasant enough stay. When I first arrived, I had my doubts. It didn't seem to have a very bubbly atmosphere and it was much further from the city that I wanted it to be. That being said, the beds were clean, the bathroom was tolerable, and the staff was helpful. I can't say I fell in love with it, but it suited my purposes.

There was a pub in the hostel, which was pretty cool at night, but it closed before mid-night. The bed were a bit unconfortable because they were 3 level bunk-beds (the person who is at the top is too high, close to the ceiling, and who is at the bottom is too close to the floor). The location is far from the center, but there is a train station nearby (about 8 min walking). Staff was cool but not that helpful in explaining stuff about london.

I had a nice staying at this hostel. Staff is ok, the atmosphere is nice, mainly at the pub downstairs, where we could easily buy drinks and good food. Breakfast was good too. The bed was a little unconfortable, the internet was bad at the rooms and the lockers was too small. It's a little tricky to get there in the first time, but you get used to it. In general, it is a 7.

Everything was great, the only thing that I wasn't expecting was purchasing a towel for 5pounds... yikes.. but other than that had a great time!

I have nothing but good things to say about this hostel, it's definitely one of the best I've stayed in. What makes it special is it's above a bar which means it's thriving with character - but the music is kept to a moderate level so it doesn't keep people awake at night. :) The only issue I had with the location is a lack of food places and shops in the immediate area, but Cutty Sark is only a short walk away and the hostel is tucked away on a nice quiet street. Free WIFI!!!

Has great character and I always felt very comfortable and safe there. Great value for your money! The downside is that it was very far away from everything, meaning we had several long tube rides to get to and from everywhere. Luckily the tube station isn't terribly far away, but location still is a big downside to this otherwise great hostel. Staff weren't always the kindest or most helpful either but they were all right.

Towels are 5 pounds and that is excessive.

I normally don't complain about hostels since all I'm doing is sleeping there. But this had the worst mattresses I've ever slept on; could feel the springs digging in to my back. Also did not have enough bathrooms, only 3 toilets and 3 showers per floor. Location is definitely not in central London, expect to be at least 45 minutes on the overground and tube to get to the main sites. It is close to the station though. Staff and security were great.

All written above reflects my opinion. I fell quite comfortable in your hostel, because of pub, place to sit and read, watch tv, listen to music, friendly staff. Small drawbacks is lack of hangers in the room and in the bathroom, sometimes water wasn't hot enough, but I would recommed your place among others and certainly I will visit your hostel soon.

Stayed in a lot of places this is probably, the best I have stayed in comparison to price, location and what they generally offer. My recommendation, try it once and make judgement for yourself. As for me, I am still trying it and I am still liking the feeling of the place, that should tell you what you want to know.

I stayed in the female dorm for 3 nights. The hostel is very clean and the bedlinen smells really nice. The blankets could be a little warmer and I missed reading-lights for each person and furthermore some hangers for coats, jackets etc. because there was no space to put them. It would be nice if breakfast could be served until 10 o'clock for example! I loved the river-walkway just 1 minute from the hostel, also the neighborhood is nice ans it's not for from the touristy centre of London,
