Generator Hostel belongs to the new and large hotel&hostel generation. Simply great!
The smell of the toilet/shower in the room meant that we had to sleep with window open...very noisy. This hostel would rock if there were separate bathroom/toilets rather than having them in-room.
Great hostel! The bar on the first floor is pretty awesome. The hostel is quite large, though, and the size makes it feel a bit like a hotel. It would be nice if Generator Hostel could bring back the traditional, cozy-like atmosphere of a conventional hostel.
I thought the hostel was very clean, and it was well organized.
Liquid soap/gel dispenser in the dorm bathrooms would have made a big difference.
Everything was excellent, the room was really nice decorated and clean. The atmosphere at the bar was great and the food offered on the menu is very good. The location is more than perfect. I definitely recommend this hostel.
I only stayed in Hamburg for 1 night so I wasn't looking for the full hostel experience,. I was treated nicely by the staff, the room was large and clean, the shower and toilet were a bit too small and later hostels I've stayed in have had much bigger bathrooms. I felt towel rental was a bit costly as I received them for free at the two later hostels I stayed in. Overall it was a pleasant stay.
the location is wonderful,1minutes walk to ZOB station, and the appearance of the hotel is great. the hotel is big, staff didn't tell us the way to elevator until we ask but the shower room and wc is too small to be convenient, and the room 603 we stay has problems with water pipes, they r stuck,so the water flows away so slow...
Everything was perfect, except for one minor thing: the sign-up for Wi-fi could be solved more elegantly compared to writing the e-mail address every time you want to log in.

The toillets and shower are so small that you can not even move yourself while taking a shower. No towels avaiable, only for selling. Breakfast is nice, but could have more variety.
No soap in the room bathrooms. Bring your own lock for the lockers in the rooms. Bathrooms in the rooms could be bigger, a little claustrophobic
Such a convenient location, nice rooms with private bathrooms, nice common room. Staff were helpful but not overly friendly.
Location right next to main station, friendly helpful staff, food served behind bar, easy social place to meet new people, free walking tours and pub crawls, comfy beds, private and shared toilets available, good showers, backpack sized lockers in room, loads of common room's, good WiFi. Only negative was couldn't get served ravage bar! Stood there for half hour (it wasn't busy either...) gave up and went to buy alcohol elsewhere to bring back - got told off by security!
Evening activities can be better
The hostel was very big and very clean. It was also right next to the train and bus station which was handy but I couldn't find anything to do near by. Also there is a bar in the hostel but there weren't any women at the bar when I went so I felt a little uncomfortable going by myself. The staff were really friendly though!
Bathroom was small, bar/lounge is not cleaned regularly. But the location of this hostel is really excellent!
This hostel was pretty fantastic and in a great location, right behind the train station! I didn't end up needing to use any sort of public transport, athough it's easily accessible if you need it. I liked the idea of the the under the bed lockers, the charging points, lights and small shelf attached to the bed. The only thing I didn't particularly like was how small the bathroom was. It was great they they had separated toilet and shower but it felt quite cramped, like in a commercial plane.
Awesome hostel! Great way to meet people with the bar downstairs and a massive common area. The only thing I could fault was that our bathroom really smelt bad, it had a real potent smell it it every time you walked in the room. Would make a big difference if there were fans in bathrooms.
Great. I'll deff go there again if needed. We were very suprised that a hostel in that location and shape could be so cheap to live at. We were so happy.

there is a ridiculous small shower in the dorm room , which would feel right at home in Japanese pod hotel but there is full bathroom on each floor if you are claustrophobic or over 175 meters ,it has feel chain hostel bar and people coming have good time wifi works and free sheets , the location opposite the train station make excellent for finding
