The room was pretty nice, but the shower in the room was so tiny. The bar was decent. The check in process was so sterile and fast, there was no time to ask any questions or have a small conversation. Maybe the staff could be more enthusiastic.
good hostel, for visit hamburg the position is ok. from the outside the hostel looks really cool but the rooms and the services in te rooms are so small

The hotel itself is nice and big with a good bebedbebed, but the area is quite dangerous and its very risky to go arohnd there after dark, it is close to all translortations which ia great but if you are planning on going out till dark reconsider.
It does the job if you're there for a night which my friends and I were. It's not a long walk from the train station which is really handy and there's lots of places to eat or go shopping near by. The hotel itself is lovely but the toilets are small like a prison cell and 2 of my friends dropped out to stay elsewhere in Europe so I was unable to get refunded.
The hostel is great. However the staff are rude and unhelpful. For example, I went to the bar to ask if they were still serving food and they just said no even though on the menu it said they were still serving. I asked a member of staff about the walking tour and they laughed in my face if I asked if it was free. The hostel lacked atmosphere. I would still recommend the hostel despite this.
Fun hostel! Wish they had a kitchen, and the bathrooms were cleaner (and had hand soap). However, right next to the train station so you can't beat that.
Great hostel in terms of location facilities but the staff were super miserable, super slow and just really unfriendly. It's sad to say but the German stereotype was bang on for them...
Very nice hostel ! the atmosphere and the staff are excellent
The generator is a well decorated, well equipped hostel, the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The bar and lounge area is brilliantly decorated and always has people around giving it a good vibe. Next to central station so its easy to get trams anywhere you wish. I Would come back!
The hostel was fine but the rooms were sooooooo hot. Fans need to be in the rooms or the windows should be opened more a small crack at the top of the window doesn't cut it. It was nice to have a big bar and restaurant downstairs with an outdoor smoking and drinking area. The location is close to the major train station which is good if you are in transit but it's not so nice if you are staying for longer than a night. The area is quite dirty and rough as are many major train station areas .
There are not enough staff working during busy hours. The ones that are there are mostly not friendly. They need to provide soap in the toilets (they will give you free bars of soap if you ask the staff, but you have to line up for ages to ask). I tried to bring my Hamburg friend in for a drink and the security guard at the door didn't allow her in. However, many people can sneak in when the guard isn't looking - which is about half the time, so it's all a bit silly, isn't it?
another positive experience at Generator Hamburg... easy check in - staff could be friendlier... rooms a little stuffy due to limited circulation ensuite facilities good in room...
shower and toilet way too small. everything else was good! 😊
Nice hostel, looks more like an Hotel than an Hostel to me.. Pretty clean, the bar and restaurant are not expensive (average price for burgers and beers). Overall pretty good.
Standard big commercial chain hostel with all the facilities you could ask for; which naturally brings about the atmosphere of the wetherspoons which isn't quite for me. Good hostel nonetheless.
We thought the hostel was more like a hotel if anything, very clinical - which was good for us as we were just stopping by. On the other hand, the bar was fun in the evening. We found the hostel to be in quite a strange location, close to the train station but it was hard for us to navigate our way around Hamburg. Overall a comfortable hostel, but I wouldn't have stayed for longer than one night.
For me this hostel is the best one i have ever seen! Atmosphere of good party, hotel staff always help, security is on the high level and rooms are new and clean! It was exellent!

Wonderful hostel! Great fun and moden. Soap in the toilets is neded both in communal and private ones. Great value and felt like a hotel not a hostel- a really fun young one... In fact better than many hotels iv stayed in!
Terrible and rude staff. No kitchen facility. Money-spinners not interested in offering a good service to their customers.
This place is unbelievably expensive for a hostel and very bad value for money. There is a very long and very slow line at the reception and it will probably take you close to one hour of waiting when you try to check in during high season.
