The dinner plates are too small. There needs to be more paring knives. There is an absolute need for midge screens on all windows

You owe me a refund. Although Glenbrittle Youth Hostel took my reservation for four people staying one night, they did not in fact HAVE four beds for the night I reserved. They only had three. We canceled the useless reservation, and ended up staying at a hostel in Portree. To their credit, Glenbrittle Youth Hostel apologized for the mix-up, and their email communications were warm and professional..

apart from thin walls everything was so beautiful and nicely done - with mountains and little river just outside - really nice place

1. The standard diameter of a dinner plate is 11 inches; there aren't any, only smaller desert plates, a common problem in Youth Hostels. This might be excusable in a hostel which sells plated meals, as a means of enforcing 'portion control', but is pointless in a Hostel which provides only self-catering facilities. 2, There is only one small saucepan, and it is very small indeed. All of the other saucepans are enormous, far too large for anyone cooking a dish for just themselves.

The hostel has recently been refurbished to a high standard. The wardens are really relaxed and friendly and the place is clean and bright. It is in a fantastic location for climbing the Cullins or the wonderful beach nearby.
