Pongyi is not a hostel, everyone there makes you feel at home as soon as you arrive. It's the most beautiful, cozy and friendly place i've ever stayed at. I can't even express how adorable Maru, You and Masaki are. They're just amazing. If you want to learn more about japanese culture and feel at home, then this is the best place. I will definitely stay there again :)

Go here, great people. Small capacity but you won't feel like just another number!

We had a lovely stay at Pongyi - The staff were pleasant and friendly, the place is so cute! I didn't want to leave!

Only stayed a night, but had a great time! We all played karuta, made origami cranes, and drank tea. The staff are really nice! The building is very cozy, with only a few beds; it actually used to be a kimono shop about a hundred years ago, and the bedrooms were where they used to store the kimono. It's not cramped, either. There's plenty of room to put your bags, and a curtain for privacy. Had a very restful stay.

This is my top guesthouse in Japan. I love this place and wanna back to stay for sure! You, Masaki and Nako are lovely host in here. If you go to Kanazawa, please stay in here. You will love this...I promise.

Masaki and Maru were lovely and hosts and made me feel very welcome! Beds were very comfortable and the private tatami room is very spacious although for light sleepers like me a bit noisy. 10 mins walk to JR Kanazawa station and 20 mins walk to the heart of the city where all the great food is. Buses run all the time to and from JR station as well. Pongyi has a kitchen, internet, books and interesting hosts and guests so I highly recommend it!
