I had a fabulous time here The staff were great and so interesting to talk to. We had a party that night that I stayed we all helped with preparing the meal which was so tasty. The next day we had a mini tour which was really interesting. They couldn't have made me more welcome. They also helped me plan the rest of my trip and also did my accommodation bookings for me. I wish I could have stayed longer. I would personally recommend this hostel to all travellers.

Loved my stay here. The hostel owner was great, and all the staff was very friendly and helpful. We even got taken on a tour of the city on the "Pongyi Limo"! I do wish I had booked another day to stay in Kanazawa as having only one night, I felt pretty rushed to do all my sight seeing. Had a great time! One thing to note is that there is only one shower/restroom downstairs, so you may have to wait in line if you want to shower a more popular time.

overall had a nice stay, only one shower, hostel staff are nice, but seem to try too hard for you to have pleasent stay. I would have liked a more relaxed atmosphere

Had an amazing time there. The hostel is a bit small but the atmosphere makes up for it. The staff is awesome and take their time to explain everything. They even brought us to the osen by car for free. I highly recommend that place.

The guesthouse with the friendliest staff i have ever experienced. I was invited to tea and biscuits and other activities free of charge, the place was clean and the owner happy to sit down with you and explain the best things to see in town and the history of the place. Would definitely come back next time im in kanazawa

The place was very good but my only issue was how much the staff wanted to be involved in my stay... Eg. They had a tea party and I didn't feel like going (after long day of sight seeing) and they asked several times that I join them. Even knocking at the door when we had gone to bed. This would be great if you are a solo traveller. But it just had a creepy vibe. The staff wanted to know where you were and what you did at all times. Kinda like living with your mother. But great location.

Pyongi is on my top 5-list of hostels throughout the world. Feels more like a home than my actual home :) Staff is genuinely warm and nice, make you feel comfortable. They introduce all guests to each other which makes it easy to get in contact with others. Dinners are organized with typical japanese foods where the guests can join in shopping ingredients, cooking and eating. So generous that they donate a large part of the income to charity! I would highly recommend this place to everyone!

The staff are very warm with loving kindness, and at nights there are additional activities such as origami and steam boat. It is a small and cozy place

Staying at Pongyi's was like staying at a friend's house. The hosts are very friendly and are very talkative. That is, they will invite you to sit down with them, tell you about the city's history and make you do origami with the other guests. So if you prefer more distance and independency, this is not the place for you. =) It was actually also quite loud at night, because there are no doors between the common room and the sleeping area...

Everyone at Pongyi was super friendly! Even after I checked out and was coming back to pick up my bags, I was invited to a seemingly spontaneous nabe party and met some amazing people. The staff really made me feel welcome. I would definitely recommend Pongyi to anyone visiting the quaint city of Kanazawa.

Pongyi gave us a warm feeling like we were at home. The living room was gathered by guests from around the world. We make friends and talk a lot. Me and my fiancé like it so much!

We received a very warm welcome after a late arrival. The owner told us his story of why and how he set up his guesthouse. Great story, and by paying a visit, you also contribute towards charity. Very friendly, like staying in a friends house. Great experience sleeping in old kimono warehouse. No worries, all very clean, warm and modern (wifi, laundry, kitchen etc) Also been recommended a great sushi place, ask the staff, its worth while!!
