No real atmosphere, seemed better suited to school camps. But clean, quite & staff friendly. Very few options in Gent as far as cheap accommodation.

Shower drain was partially blocked so that floor started to flood when running the water for too long.

The location is perfect, the room, bathroom and common area were clean. If you're not a member of the youth hostel network, there's an extra charge. The breakfast is amazing though, which kind of makes up for it.

Very very basic, the room looked like a prison cell and they could have even put hand soap in the toilet... and I thought for the money they should have at least made the bed!! Never had to make my own bed in a place I stayed before... and a picture on the wall or something to cheer the room up!

I was very happy with my stay in De Draecke. The hostel is really nice. The private 2 bed room had it´s own bathroom and was clean. Tasty breakfast in the morning included.

The place is nice, but I've been there twice and every time I found myself in dorms with very old, drunk people that snored the whole night. It took ages to fall asleep and I didn't sleep very well anyway.

It is a nice hostel, good atmosphere and very well located behind the castle. I had a lot of fun with people I met there, so I can only recommend it!

First time at a Hostel International(HI) affiliated property. A bare bones private room - was all I needed a clean bed and shower. Glad I brought my own soap with me! Location near the castle was very convenient to the sites.

Toilet was smelly when we got there and the whole bathroom was really dirty. However, I didn't mind much but it needs to improve. I wouldn't mind coming back again. Breakfast was good.

It doesn´t have a kitchen, but you can ask the staff, who could not be kindlier, to heat your dinner on their microwave. Very clean and comfortable. Extremely nice view from the window if you get my room.

Good clean rooms, but quite basic and a small ceiling. Nice bar area downstairs.

Great hostel!! Perfect location and very nice and helpfull staff (the ones I've talked to). The only 'not so good' thing was the low water pressure of the shower. I really enjoyed staying in this hostel...

Its a nice place to sleep and thats about it, I wouldn't go here alone. Staff is nice though. Warning: there are no lockers in the rooms, only in the hall.

Very sterile, institutional environment (I realize it's HI but still). For how big it is, there was hardly any interaction between people there but that may have been just when I was there. It was clean, organized, fabulous staff... but there was no character or real life to it. Shame because Ghent is amazing and the location is really good.

Staf were fabulous.. They explained everything that I needed to know regarding the hostel and surrounding.. Advised me of what was on offer.. The facilities were excellent.. The loc fab.. 10mins to eurolines drop off point and 10mins to main train station...Maganda.. Which is less than thirty mins to Brussels... I'll be back there next time in Ghent ... Thank you to all the staff.. x
