The staff were very friendly and helpful when they were there during the day, but the office closes down at night. The location was excellent!! I was at the hostel in early december, so the hostel was empty, however I felt that the security to get in and out of the building was good.

Excellent hostel. I admire their push to go green. My only complaint was while the dorms were male, female, or mixed the washrooms were all coed.

I normally don't like to stay in HI hostels, especially those within city centers. I find them too crowded, formal, and "corporate". However, this one in Halifax is an exception. I had a fun time and the location can't be beat. The staff made sure we had fun and the kitchen is huge.
