About

Welcome to Canada's west coast playground. If you love adrenaline highs, this is heaven! Skiing, boarding, mountain biking, bungee, zip lining, whitewater rafting, snowmobiling, ATVs... we've got it all!

Opened in July 2010, HI-Whistler is a purpose-built facility that was originally used as part of the athletes' accommodation during the 2010 Winter Olympics. Our amazing facility is the new standard of hostelling with all the amenities you'd expect and then some.

Our onsite cafe Cheaky's serves local beer and ciders as well as house-made meals, snacks and delicious specialty coffees. Open from 7am daily.

Store your skis, board and bike in our storage room. Hang out in our TV lounge equipped with a 52' HDTV and meet some like-minded travellers in the common areas. Play pool on one of the best tables in the area, originally built and designed by Olhausen for the Olympic village in 2010!

See you soon!

Summary of traveller reviews

HI Whistler in Canada offers a clean and comfortable stay with friendly, helpful staff. While some find it a bit far from the village, its great value and quiet atmosphere make it ideal for travellers seeking a peaceful base. Some guests noted uncomfortable mattresses.

Overall a super nice stay and my go-to in Whistler! The location is quite far from Whistler Village, which is an obvious downside. The only other downside for me on this trip was how hot it got in the room, despite outside temperatures not being super high. There was one fan in the room and we kept the window open, but it was hard to sleep at times because of the heat. Other than that, the staff are always friendly and there are great amenities!

HI Whistler offers good value with affordable rates, a shared kitchen, and great views. It’s ideal for nature lovers, though reaching Whistler Village takes about 16–20 minute bus ride. Cleanliness in the kitchen could improve, and added bunk privacy would help. The key system is inconvenient, and Wi-Fi can be unreliable. Best suited for groups seeking adventure rather than couples or families.

Great price for Whistler. If you have your own vehicle it’s the perfect spot to stay. Not the most social hostel but very clean and you can’t beat the price.
