The hostel is not in a central location and is ages away from anywhere. If you dont speak Chinese I would recommend going to a different hostel. Also when we arrived the room was not clean - there were muddy foot prints all over the floor, and half the things the hostel list as being provided are not. But it does have beds, and some amenities and you can rent bikes.

There are not easy traffic connections nearby, though it is near Hainan University. It is supposed to have internet conncetion in room , however, when I was there only rooms in LEVEL 1 and LEVEL 2 has internet connection. wifi is available in lobby. Generally, it is clean. But some room is a bit smelly due to humidity maybe.

SO hard to find! It's actually not even the Chinese address given on the site- it's in the buildings behind it- so we walked around for almost an hour before we found the place. The staff was really nice though and it was a good sized room. Our only complaint is that the bathroom wasn't too clean.

Stayed about a week; Wifi in most areas but the routers seem to be flaky so some sections may not have wifi access but there is usually another place that has it; Medium-size locker in 6-bed dorm (4-bed dorms may not have working locker); Can rent bikes but most were broken during my stay so only had a chance to rent once; price is actually marked up from in-person price as the hostel passes their membership fee onto the guest; Big TV/computer/pool in lobby; guests mostly Chinese

Stayed during "peak season", so prices were near double, guests were low volume, and cleaning staff was partly on holiday, so dorm room did not get cleaned in 3 days I was there (including emptying bathroom trash can); No working lockers in the room I was in but the other dorm rooms have medium-size lockers; can leave valuables in luggage room in lobby; wifi worked in roughly half the building; can take buses and rent bikes to get around; walking distance from night snack areas & waterfront park

The staff were not so understanding of some basic needs of getting around the city. The general area was much like a ghost town, which is something worth noting when it was during Chinese New Year. Also, the lobby can get quite rambunctious at night sometimes, which can be cumbersome if you need to get an early night for early morning travel the next day.

A little bit far away from the centre, bus 18 takes you to any other bus you'd be likely to want to take. The staff is not really nice, felt like they were just here to get your money, give you your keys and that's it: they were not able to give proper information and had to check on the Internet. The living-room was nice, clean and modern with a computer, wifi, tv and loads of DVDs. As for the cleanliness of the room: really poor, not once was it cleaned in 3 days. Other bad point: small locker

The Twinstar hostel provides clean rooms, reasonable prices, and some excellent common areas. It is just too bad that the location is a little further away from the sights in Haikou. However, my stay there was quite pleasant and the room I had was clean and secure.

Only stayed a night here but thought it was good value for the money. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was big and had nice open windows to let the light in. As was only in transit to other places in Hainan, thought this was a perfectly fine place to spend a night. If I had more time would have rented a bike from them. Would recommend.

Very average. You're not going to get the great community feel that you get at other hostels but it's good enough that I would stay there again in a heart beat.

Nice hostel, but shame about the location. Not much atmosphere or activities to be planned, so ended up having to watch a DVD!! Volcanic Park (火山口) worth a visit, but only if you happen to be in the Haikou area. Don't make a special trip. If you find yourself in Haikou though, choose this hostel.
