It is located near Big Wild Gooth Pagode outside city wall. But there are many busses running to city centre in short time. Don´t expect much because one doesn`t pay much. Nice location and nice service. It is a typical backpacker hostel.
The location of the hostel is very good, but the hostel is terrible,so dirty! Istead of a window in my room there was a hole in the wall,i booked a 4 people room, and it was too small, impossible to stay there we ran away.

They never arrived for the pick up we arranged and changed 12rmb for towels. The stay was adaquete but nothing special. The location is a 20-30 minute bus to downtown, but close to the big wild goose pagoda. We switched to another hostel in xian and had a much better stay.
This was a chilled hostel, not the best for meeting other foreign people but this could have just been the time I stayed. Very helpful staff when it came to sorting onwards journey.
Located in nice area but you have to take a taxi from metro - be wary of taxi drivers trying to rip you off. Room was very small and dark. Toilet/shower facilities were not great - again very dark. Staff ok but we were not given any city maps etc when we arrived which we're used to. Busy area with plenty of bars/restaurants etc. Easy to get bus to Terracotta Warriors. All in all an ok hostel.
They missed our pick up and charge 12 Yuan for useing a towel, but other than that it was not a bad stay. Location is a 20-30 minute bus from downtown, so I would suggest getting a hostel at a better location. Some staff speak english but some do not.
Right next to the Big Goose Pagoda, and bus stations to any major tourist spots in Xi'an, the Hanwood Youth Hostel is easily the best hostel in one of China's oldest provinces. Choose from multi-bed dorms or private rooms to fit your budget, with a shared space that has such a unique personality. The bilingual staff is very knowledgeable and can even connect you with tours and events in the area. While Hanwood is geared towards 20-30's, it can accommodate for all travelers. Highly recommended!

The most helpful staff with the best English I have seen in a Chinese hostel, they helped up with taxis, onward journeys and booking other hostels. The commen room area has a real charm and is always busy with happy people. The rooms were average, with thin mattresses but relatively clean. Location is outside of the city walls, however in a much nicer neighbourhood with the giant wild goose pagoda 5mins away. Small supermarket next door for cheap snacks and drinks.
Nice pickup from the train station. Good location near Big Goose Pagoda (fun at night, with a "culture street" and water show), but a decent-length bus ride to city center. Room had no lockers, and was kind of noisy at night - it was right by a bar/restaurant street that stayed open late, but other rooms seemed to be located further away. Overall, an okay hostel.
This was pretty good value for money and the staff were nice and helpful. However the room was very small and the shower was a cold drizzle. Also, as far as I know, there wasn't a food service provided.
