The location is excellent, near melbourne CBD, the staff is super helpful. But there was too much noise from other hostel resident & outside traffic. i stayed there for one 8 nights, i could never have a complete nice sleep. most other residents slept late and still making terrible noise from the common area at 2am All hostel window is facing Victoria Parade, a main road for traffic coming to downtown from east. lots of car flew by at midnight. no free wifi kitchen and common area is small

they are currently doing construction right outside the window, so if you are a light sleeper, stay on the top floor. they are across the street from the hospital and a couple fo blocks from the Melbourne CBD, so good food and fun things to do are right at your doorstep. That being said, you will hear the traffic outside. Also, book early because the rooms fill up fast.

Excellent, can't wait to stay here again. They have anything you could want. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the local area. The dorms and bathrooms very, very clean. The building has great character, all the way down to the creaky floors and beautiful staircases. It's only a small hostel, so the staff get to know you pretty well and everyone around seems up for a chat. Very social place and only a short walk to all the major attractions. Loved it.

No breakfast and it seems like more a place for long-term accommodation .. Rooms are towards Victoria Parade so it's very noisy :/ Nevertheless the staff was friendly and the rooms/toilets/showers were clean ;)

Originally booked for one night but once I arrived I decided to extend my stay for the duration of my time in Melbourne. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The kitchen and dining area is spacious. There are a few chill out areas where you can watch TV/films. Rooms are clean and TV's and full length mirrors in every room! I've stayed in 4 other hostels in Melbourne and this one has been the best, it has also been the cheapest which is an added bonus!

This Hostel is by far one of the cleanest i have ever stayed in and. With the right balance of social space and social events it means the 'Home' is a very welcoming accomadation. The beds are super comfy and you will find it hard to beat the showers with a good mix of shower rooms and 'private' (but available to all) bathrooms. overall i must say my two months there has been very easy going and alot of fun.

Room was far too hot. I had to try and lay down in one of the bathrooms to cool down. Then the cleaner came and woke me up. Resulted in very little sleep. Defo need to think about installing AC

I've stayed at 5 hostels in melbourne and this is by far the best one. The atmosphere is amazing, and the staff are beyond fantastic. The staff keep the hostel well maintained and clean. There is a 24 hour reception, so they are available to help you with anything you need at any time of day.

My favorite hostel in Melbourne. Very friendly & helpful staff! Clean dorms & Toilets (the main things you usually dread before getting to a hostel) Facilities looked great, shame I only stopped for 2 nights!

Home at The Mansion is very convenient in terms of location, but the noise outside the front from traffic and people partying in the courtyard might be troublesome. Other than that, I saw no real problems with my stay there. Not sure if I would stay there again, but could be a useful option in the future.

The tv's in every room was great. No air conditioning so a little warm, but other than that great place to stay. Good location and close to public transportation!

This hostel was the best one from all I stayed in Australia. Very clean. TV in the room. 5 minutes walk to CBD and 10 minutes walk to Fitzroy district. I would recomend this hostel to all. I used laundry and dryer servise - very convinient.

A towel supply service would be good - that's really the only issue I had. I found it strange that a towel was not included as they obvious launder sheets and bedding. Also better fans in the rooms - perhaps wall mounted. The upper bunks didn't get much benefit from the floor standing fan.
