Pretty typical hostel fare, full of young people drinking a lot. Bunks were comfy enough, rooms and bathrooms were pretty clean. Only thing that was people seem to stay there quite long-term and it seems very cliquey. Otherwise, if all you need is a cheap bed, it's totally decent.

2 nights spent there. Good hostel, clean if not thinking of the huge mess in my dorm as most of the people of the room lived there and had many things, but not the hostel's fault i guess. Nice and clean bathroom, nice chilling areas, friendly staffs, and good location!

A great hostel, well located and in a character-filled old building, would definitely return. My only suggestion would be to get some free wifi on the go and also beware that there isn't always a lot of room in the dorms when they are full.

I didn't really think this hostel deserved the good reviews it was getting. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was ok and bathrooms good but the communal areas were poor, particularly the kitchen which very ill equipped - i could only see about 6 bowls, plates etc for the whole hostel. The road outside is also very noisy and other guests were making a lot of noise late at night outside the bedrooms in the courtyard.

Nice building and good bathrooms but room sweltering hot and found atmosphere amongst other guests to be almost hostile, people obviously staying for a long time, working in the area, so really hard to interract with them as a solo traveller just passing through for a few days. Communal areas nonexistant, just one bench in the kitchen which was always full of the large group, kitchen very small for size of property. Staff nice and helpful but wouldn't recommend this place.

This is the second time I stayed at the mansion this year and most likely stay again next time I am in Melbourne. It just feels right for me and I believe that other visitors share my views. That's the impression I get fromconversations with them.

I loved the old style building. The staff were of course helpful and the bed was comfortable. The tram stops nearby were useful. You have several route options.

We had a great time. Staff were great and really helpful! So close to the city, what more can you want?
