Stayed here during the world cup, which i imaghine was the cause for the high prices and not particularly good value for money. Stayed in the double private room, with a surprise balcony.room was a good size with a useful fridge and the room and bathrooms were clean. Location was good, very close to Ipanema beach, however the surrounding restaurants were not budget friendly. Would happily recommend hostel new Ipanema.

Good location. The place is small but is near to the main streets in Ipanema. Good hostel if you want to stay in Ipanema but pay a lower price.

Great location! Hostel itself is certainly a good place to stay, nothing really stands out about it, but it certainly did the job for my world cup stay!

It is perfect for the price!

We had a great stay at the hostel, the staff is very relax and friendly, and the best is the location (two blocks from the beach and very safe neighborhood day and night). I will definitely come back!

fail: no breakfast, no computers for using without wifi, staff was unfriendly

This hostel has a great location, 3 blocks from impanema beach, the beds are comftarble , and the staff are very nice

This hostel has a great location, though it is fairly dark and dingy with little atmosphere. We left early to return to our previous hostel.

nice hostel, we had the double with a wonderful balcony in the rooftop

Excellent location, felt very safe. Having breakfast included would make the price more reasonable compared to other hostels close by.

Excelente lugar. La gente y los amigos que se hicieron siempre los recordare. Buen ambiente, limpio, muy agradable....

strange staff> poor english, not helpful>didn´t even know how to get to the Airport...dorms were alright, clean. no breakfast and no hostelatmosphere at all

Good Hostel, the people there is nice, no problems at all

Very good hostel, very friendly staff. Clean, with air conditioner in the rooms (which is quite necessary at Rio de Janeiro). The location is just perfect (especially for gay people, as it is just tree blocks away from the famos gay Ipanema beach. Although it is not a hostel for parties (you cannot make loud noises after 10PM because of the neiborhood) I met really cool people and made nice friends. I definetely recommend it!

Franklin is a hero. Really nice place, we had the private room and had a small balcony with a hammock - clean and well kept. Only stayed the one night to wait for bus but close to beach

Poor atmosphere, difficult to meet people, uninterested staff, no breakfast, good location.

Basic hostel. Air conditioned bedrooms. Relatively clean showers and toilets. Free wifi.

The hostel was charging twice as much as the one next door, at about the same standard. We eventually moved up the road to one with breakfast and a pool for the same price. I'd booked 5 nights, stayed 1 - we gave 24 hours notice and paid the first night owing (-deposit). The owner said that we needed to pay more as hostel world took the initial 10%. We eventually gave him more money, but were unsure about this requirement. Hostel world weren't answering the phones...I think we were ripped off.

Dirty, hot, cramped. Frank on reception was a lovely chap but this Hostel is not any cheaper than the much better accommodation others will offer. The showers are cold the floor was sandy the entire time, there was nowhere to meet people, there was no breakfast, not even remotely enough plugs for charging, the kitchen was a state we didn't even bother trying to use it and there was little to no room for bags. I feel bad because I liked the guys there but this place was no good. Good Location!
