Stayed at hostels in London and Pittsburgh, and India house was favorable and most fun! Suggest repairing OB room door so it stays closed to avoid overnight freezing, skeeters and revelry sounds. Otherwise had a blast and service was great! Looking forward to staying next president's day...

Good hostel, cheap, clean and friendly staff. Only thing was that my dorm was extremely cold at night, even though I had a blanket and clothes on..

Compare to other hostels I've been to (Argentina, Spain), the lockers are not big enough for your carry-on. The showers can be improved. Doesn't have to be much. Things like, non-slip mats, better shower heads, bigger trash bins (they're community showers, but the trash bins are tinny).

Great vibe about this place in a good location. Can't ask for more

Great place to go to meet people with lots of communal spaces. During Mardi Gras the place was packed and you'd have to try hard not to meet some new people everyday. The rooms were a bit rough around the edges but all the facilities worked and anyone who's been travelling for a while shouldn't be uncomfortable.

I had an odd time at this hostel. The staff were nice and for the first day it was okay as I was so tired from the travel, there was a lot of noise during the night as I had one of the outside rooms. I hardly slept for the next three days due to the noise and by the time they could offer me a room change I had already made my mind up to leave. I met a few really nice people but was glad to change hostel.

The man who works overnight is extremely rude. Proceed with caution!

Great location, safe with nice hot showers. Some of the staff was quite inviting and friendly but some of them were (pardon my french) assholes. The big Swiss-German with the moustache was particuliarly cold and uninviting for no apparent reason and seemed to want to keep sending people to the french_quarter exclusively. For instance he told me to stay away from Kermit's Speakeasy on Basin st because it's dangerous. I had the time of my life and met Kermit Ruffins no thanks to his shoddy advice.

This hostel was wonderful! Everyone we met here, staff or other hostel stayers, were so wonderful to talk to and get to know. The backyard was wonderful and a great place to meet everyone. Just wanted to give a shout out to Asante, Niles, Max, and Mike you guys made our trip! Love the Texas Girls!

Best hostel in New Orleans area. Great location, Canal St. trolley is just across the street. The house is beautiful and colorful. Rooms are basic, mattress and pillow were comfortable. Shared bathrooms and showers were often clean. They have cheap breakfast and dinner available as well ($4-6). Very helpful staff. I recommend this hostel to everyone.

tlAWESOME ! The location is ideal....close enough to get to the French Quarter within minutes (bus ride) and far enough to possibly sleep if that is your choice. The staff is amazing....friendly, informative and overall they seem really genuine. ..I will stay here again and again. I told myself I was not going to eat there because NOLA has so many wonderful options elsewhere.....BUT I couldn't resist...Yummy and Affordable! (On a Broke Budget)

Because of size not everyone can stay in the main house. My friend and I stayed in dorm room in a house next door (we were put in a 10 bed instead of 8!) The bathroom in the house we stayed in had two toilets and two showers in the same area. A shower curtain separated this area from the shower and nothing else! A bit of privacy and some space to change would be nice! The kitchen was difficult to understand - fridges for food but no bowls or spoons so we could have our own breakfast!?
