Great place! I'll definietly stay there again if I come back ever. Beds were a little uncomfortable in the 8 dude room, but for the value it was pretty sweet. It would have been awesome if the beds were made on arrival, but that is just the laziness in me talking. Your hostel has great character and awesomely helpful staff. They are the contributing factor to a future return visit from me.

Great cheap breaky in the morning! Only thing was the start time for breaky was 9ish which is a little late if you want to get going and start your day. Some very helpful staff who gave great directions and advice. Little hit cold in the rooms in January!

Nice hostel with decent facilities. A little on the roughing it side, no breakfast, and you have to make your own bed when you get there, but other than that it's a solid pick.

I stayed here in the second week of January and can honestly say that this was one of the BEST such experiences I've ever had. I would NEVER stay anywhere else in New Orleans. The staff is wonderful--thanks Laura, thanks so much Kenny! Just amazing people, and you can socialize if you want. As hostels go, this is one of the VERY best. I find the location quite convenient to the Quarter--just take the Canal Streetcar and in a few minutes you're there. I loved the Lagniappe room

Is anyone running the place? The main floor--kitchens, living rooms, back patio area are absolutely chaotic and dirty. Looks as if no one even sees the problems anymore. Get a power washer and paint for starters. A TV runs day and night but no clicker for anyone to change the channel. Old dirty furniture that looks picked off the curb. Kitchen full of crates of "staff" food but who is the staff? No one appears to be "staff" except a front desk clerk and one person cookilng breakfast.

Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, but the place does need a good clean. Location is average, but can't really do much about that. I think for big groups who have no interest in seeing anything or doing anything but getting wasted every night ( nothing wrong with that, I just wanted to do a bit more than just that), it is perfect, but for me it wasn't, nothing against the hostel. But what I did have a problem with was no towels ..put towels in! And the rooms need a good dusting

Keep in mind - when you go to a hostel bring your own towels! It was almost TOO clean - like the room had an overpowering scent of chlorine bleach but other than that it was FANTASTIC. We stayed the weekend of the BCS game, and it was really fun. They have places to cook/eat but they will serve breakfast (for cheap) in the morning. They had a hilarious crazy cat lady action figure. Also, you need to charge $80 to use your credit card (the ATM was out when I was there) and its $5 per key charge

Only issue was that you were out of towels, but there were a lot of people staying at the hostel that weekend, so it's understandable. Other than that, the place was awesome. I have no real complaints.

Comfortable, clean, and convenient to pretty much any neighborhood we needed to go to. Staff were thorough in explaining the hostel and the amenities. Adorable house cat. Common areas inside main house are comfy and well kept. Outside area is beautiful, kitchen (for guest use) is massive and also very clean. Didn't get a chance to try onsite cooking (too many plans) or the pool (too cold, unfortunately), but maybe next time! We plan to return to NOLA soon and will def. book here again! Thanks!

- Breakfast / dinner: best thing ever -- it's good food at good prices - You could get more throughput on the bathrooms by splitting up the shower and toilet-sink: someone can brush her teeth / use the toilet while another person showers. - Raise the upper bunk on bunkbeds so that people in the lower bunk can sit up on the bed; the ceilings are plenty high enough. (maybe there's a safety issue that limits the height of the upper bunk, but this would make it a lot more pleasant)

We stayed in a "private room". It was pretty much a shed, with a padlock as a lock and everything. The toilets and showers were in a separate building across a courtyard. We had a space heater for our room. There also weren't stairs to our building; there was a plank. All of that was about what we expected. One thing that upset us was the entry of our room by a staff member when we weren't there without notice. This was against their policy and unnecessary--it was to change AC filters in Jan!

The hostel is interesting and has a lot of character. We stayed in a double bed private ensuite and it was actually very nice for what we payed. The room was very clean and fresh bed linens were provided. The stop for the trolly is literally right across the street from the entrance to the hostel and it only takes about 10ish minutes to get all the way down the riverwalk. We did have a problem where our reservation was mixed up with someone else but the manager quickly fixed the problem.

Cons: linens are in shabby condition (discolored, worn, stained), luckily it was warm in the room. Only 1 bathroom among 12 beds. No bath mat - the floor's always wet. 1 wall mirror shared among 8. Lockers located in rooms outside of sleeping areas (unhelpful for sorting through luggage). Unsturdy, creaky bunk beds. One staff member was definitely on drugs. He cooks your food. Pros: fantastic place to meet people, especially if traveling alone. Low price! Desk staff extremely helpful! maps, etc

Perhaps we got the short straw, but our bed frame and mattress were in very poor shape. Also the ceiling fan looked like it had started collecting dust back in the sixties. Thank God we had an in-suite, because the common facilities were pretty bad, except for the the one bathroom in the house. The staff were agreeable, and the location is great for catching the canal st streetcar. On return to N.O. I will look else where.
