Here is what bothered me enough to be bothered in spite of wanting to like things. The situation with the bathroom for three guests (2 guys, one woman) was highly uncomfortable. Not only was it usually occupied for the first couple of times I tried to get in; but on the final night it was really, really dirty with the trash over-flowing. I am not squeamish about toilets, but.... Also the door closure was ridiculous. You need a knob system. Also, noisy. Very cool wall art. Staff was so so.

I stayed in the dorms. In the dorm area, the bathrooms were filthy. The rooms (curtains, floors) were dirty. It was winter and there was no heat in my room. The linens were not clean and mine were full of hair. I purchased my own pillow cases from a nearby store. There were no safety railings on the upper bunk beds. I"ve never seen so much dirt and grime. The hostel location was superb and it is located very close to the trolley. The trolley takes you straight into downtown for only $1.25

Good breakfast and dinner options! Great way to introduce yourself to the Big Easy. If you are looking for clean showers and floors or personal space this may not be for you. Otherwise, great outdoor hangout area and cool artwork!

The hostel had a great courtyard for socially and relaxing the room wasn't clean or the bathroom area. It was in a good spot to get the cable car to the more popular areas of new Orleans. The kitchen and breakfast facilities were good if you didn't want to venture out

One of the best hostels I've stayed in. Great atmosphere, the staff were very helpful (Chelsea on the desk in particular), well run and good food. I ended up staying a lot longer than I anticipated. Would recommend to anyone!

The dinner (Creole noodles) and breakfast (omelet) were incredible! A great aspect of the hostel I did not expect. I can't wait to return!

The staff was great with my friend and her immobility issues- helping us rearrange rooms so we could avoid stairs and storing her wheelchair. We're really glad she didn't do any extra strain to her leg since we found out when we got home that it was broken.

India House is a good hostel, talking about facilities, cleanliness and location. Atmosphere is awesome if you're looking for friendly cool people. Staff is very professional, though nice and helpful anytime you need them.

The hostel definitely has a unique character. The services such as a cheap breakfast & dinner were great ideas but it was a little strange to share a room with a girl who lived there & had spread her stuff throughout the room. The location was an easy tram ride to the city, unfortunately they were doing track repairs & it stopped halfway where you had to walk through a dodgy area to reach the French quarter.

The first set of sheets I received at check in were not clean, and the blanket did not look clean enough to use. I would not stay at this hostel again, nor would I recommend it to anyone who values a clean, safe, and quiet place to sleep.

Nice place with a lot of character.Great bunch of people staying there.Right down the street from the Canel street car which takes you to downtown and the French quarter in about 15 minutes. And if your comin home from the quarter after hours its only about 10 dollars for a cab.

Great place and great deal for the money. I am a young professional that could have afforded a hotel, but the hostel was a great choice. I will stay again soon. Of course the showers could use a detailing and more flexible use of credit cards would be lovely, but it adds to the ambience the way it was. Bikes kinda really need a tune up (for your liability sake, the felt kinda dangerous to ride). But a great 4 nights. Thank you!!!!

everything was good except a staff that was very unpolite rude and gave me wrong and missing informations. When i aske her that i wanted to book one more night she told me that the only way was to do it online. It's the blond girl from Ohio but originally from Seattle.

Cool hostel, right next to the street cars. It's not walking distance to the sites, but the traditional trams are an experience to have anyways.

Staff was indifferent and not as friendly as expected. Additionally, it was kinda a drag having to pay cash for one night. Now, I understand that this might help keep the price down but that should maybe be explained to people as they go there.
