It was just the perfect place to stay short or long period. In the middle of china town and close to all main attractions. Room is big enough even though it has 10 beds in it. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Thanks to Jonny and Sam! I would definitively stay there again!

Very nice hostel in the centre of China Town which is the heart of the city. Everything is clean, funny manager, silent but nice old Japanese house keeper (if i'm not wrong). I love the idea of providing each bed a power socket and a fan. Free tea and coffe in the living room, bike is 5RM a day for guests of the hostel. Now i know why this hostel got over 90% positive rating. The only minus point is that the wifi is disconnected sometimes but you can't expect more while paying $5 for a night.

It's a little bit hard to find Jalan Jalan Emas since the signage is not clear in Melaka. Overall, there is a best place to stay in Melaka, guest can rent a bike to travel in the town for MYR $5 only. It's reasonable and wonderful services. Lee and Sam are very friendly and helpful.

Very cool place. Lee organized a dinner outing to a Sikh temple which I would never could have done traveling alone. I met a bunch of people who stayed in the hostel for 3-5 days just enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of Melaka.

Great hostel! Stayed in the ten bed dorm and it was clean and comfy. Sam is awesome and dinner club with Lee every night is great. Get to eat the best food in Melaka and make new friends at the same time. Easy place to meet people and very relaxed atmosphere!

Jalan Jalan was an awesome place to stay in Melaka! Sam and Lee were both incredibly friendly and accommodating and the hostel was spotless. The atmosphere is awesome, and dinner club every night is a great way to meet people and get out of the tourist hot-spots. It is well worth paying Jalan-Jalan a visit!

Really nice place to visit. Staff is great. Diningclub is a must do activity. The toilets and shower are outside and may need an additional scrub. Also the wifi did not work, there was a computer with internet. But these downsides overshadow the coolness of this place. Stay here and you will have a nice visit of Melaka.

I enjoyed my stay here. The owner, Sam, was extremely helpful and friendly. Thanks, Sam! The only complaint would be the smoking in the reception in the evening that everyone has to walk through. It also wafted up to the dorm area. Otherwise good location, clean, friendly, good value, etc. Great cafe around the corner for breakfast - cafe limau limau, and close to everything in Malacca town.

Had an amazing time at Jalan-Jalan. I would recommend anyone to stay at this hostel. As soon as you walk in you will feel comfortable and welcome. Sam, the hostelowner, will most likely be there to welcome you personally. All the facilities you need are there and properly looked after. Meeting people here is very easy, as there is always someone in the commonroom. Usually people go for dinner together and have a social drink afterwards.

One of the best hostels I have stayed in ever. This was my second time at Jalan Jalan. Once as a solo female traveller & this time with my boyfriend. Excellent communal areas, friendly atmosphere, great for meeting other travelers but also nice double room. Beautiful hostel, great location, helpful staff. I highly recommend this hostel. Very clean also.

My stay at Jalan-Jalan Emas was a highlight of my trip to Malaysia. I would definitely recommend this hostel to any budget traveller, especially to anyone who is travelling solo and would like to meet others. The atmosphere is warm, friendly and welcoming, and Lee and Sam go out of their way for the guests. Nightly activities are organized that help everyone get to know each other, but there is no pressure if you don't want to join in. The location of the hostel is perfect as well.

The hostel is excellent. the rooms are very simple, yet all the rest is perfect for backpackers. The friendly atmosphere, amazing staff and the facilities such as washing machine, wi-fi, bike rent makes this hostel a backpack paradise. If you are backpacking alone this hostel is exactly what you need in order to make friends to hangout over Melaka. For sure the best option in the city.

We stayed here for a week over Chinese New Year. Had a brilliant time thanks to Sam and Lee, who run 'dinner club' a must for those who are staying in Melaka. If you want a really quiet night in, this may not be the place but its Super clean, and a great atmosphere, a great place to meet some lovely people.

Terrible. Extremely basic hostel. The dorm room is a large room which is completely open. No door and windows that don't shut. You therefore have zero privacy and hundreds of Mosquitos come in. But by far the worse part of this experience has to be the so called 'bathrooms' they are just converted outdoor sheds, again with loads of Mosquitos so you get bitten while showering going to the toilet. Totally not up to very basic standards.
