Very Nice place to stay, located on a quiet street, but near by the town as well.

Super guesthouse. Our double room was simple and clean. What makes it though is the staff. Apart from being friendly and helpful, they also organise bicycle trips to surounding sights in the evenings for free. Really great place, couldn't recommend it more.

One of the best Hostels I've stayed at in a long time. The staff are amazing and the people I met were great - glad I did a stopover in Melaka.

I had an amazing stay at Jalan Jalan, I was travelling on my own and everyone was so friendly. Sam and Lee are awesome and arrange interesting places to go for dinner every night so it's really easy to meet people. Loved it and have already booked another stay there next week!

Had an amazing time here--it was the perfect place for a solo backpacker to meet other solo backpackers. The owners could not be friendlier, the atmosphere could not be more relaxed. I was seriously debating scrapping some of my trip to extend my stay here. They even take guests out to dinner, at least on nights I was there, around some interesting spots in town. Not to mention Melaka rocks. Fantastic place.

It was a very basic hostel, though I didn't expect anything more for the price I paid. Good location in the middle of Chinatown, great for meeting other travelers. As far as the staff go, Lee was great - though Alan was kind of rude (his parting comment was that I was one of the loudest people he's ever met - come on, how about "we hope you enjoyed your stay?").

One of the best hostels I have ever stayed at. Great atmosphere, clean, cheap, and a great place to stay if you want to meet people.

Booked a 10 bed dorm but were upgraded for free. Excellent place and the staff weren't just friendly, they were sociable - and that's not something you get in hostels that often. Can't recommend it enough.

Host Alan (Ben Kingsley) and Guesthouse are both 100%. Communal area is perfect for meeting fellow travellers. Host Alan is your 24 hour security and knows Melaka inside out. Don't have a bad word to say, good job JalanJalan

My wife and I stayed at Jalan-Jalan in a double room in the back of the building. The room was clean, bright and breezy. The Londoner who runs the place gave us a lot of helpful advice and was very friendly. The whole guesthouse was very clean. The dorm room looked quite nice too. It was the nicest place we stayed at in Malaysia, and it was also the cheapest! I highly recommend staying here!

The atmosphere is so great thanks to Alan and all the stories and experiences he shares. In the vibe of this hostel I felt super comfortable, and I will definitely return to this specific hostel when I am back in Malaysia!

Great hostel. Very home-like feel. People are friendly and the place is spotless. Alan has a funny personality, but grows on you quickly. He takes incredible care of the Guesthouse and also to ensure that guests are comfortable and happy. Would stay here again.

Fantastic location, very clean, easy to find, very secured. The room looked shokingly basic at first BUT actually it had all we needed, including mosquitos nets. The guy who looks after the hostel (Alan, I believe) is really rude and weird, not welcoming at all. The hostel offers tea and cofee 24hours but when we asked for milk the answeer was-sorry,no cow! :0)

Great little hostel in an excellent location. Alan was very friendly and welcoming, introducing us to everyone and showing us the best places to go for food, and how to ward off mosquitoes. Would stay again.

Making a negative stereotype based on things such as nationality or gender is not appreciated or necessary in this kind of business. These are the kind of things that you should be VERY careful, even for a joke, when you are talking to your guests.
