Decent hostel in a good location near the lake. Plenty of outdoor areas to chill and helpful staff. The hairdryer though is located in the hallway, so every morning we were woken up whenever someone had to dry their hair, and then a second time when the loud cleaning staff started cleaning the rooms. Still, nothing ear plugs didn't fix!

This hostel has a great common area with seats to relax in the bar, garden and in the upstairs lounge area. The beds are large and very comfy with big, soft pillows and quilts. The drinks they made at the bar were a bit average but the food was good. The water however was limited to certain times of the day apparently due to government restrictions. Other people in different hostels in Kunming at the same time didn't have this problem, so I'm skeptical as to wether they were telling the truth.

Quite a nice place to stay overall, good location, very comfortable beds and you have your own light and a power socket, there are also good lockers in the room. The downside is that there's no wi-fi in the dorm (I lived on 6th floor), the floors looked like they haven't been swept for ages and the staff was too busy.

Great food, especially for those who need an escape from the world of Chinese food. Unfortunately internet was pretty slow quite often.

Very charming, very clean. No towels provided but there is unlimited hot water in the showers. 5-bed dorm only had 4 large lockers, so I had to use one of the small bedside lockers. Good wifi signal throughout the building.

The location of the hostel is very good but rather a long way from the railway station and for some reason non of the taxis would stop for me. After a long journey this was irritating to say the least. I am accustomed to using the public transport, so I suggest that the two buses needed to arrive at Uplands be clearly marked on the website. As the bus stops are clearly marked in pinyin this would facilitate the travellers experience and pocket!

it's a very nice and clean hostel. it's the 2nd time i was staying there and i would recommend it to other travellers. the only disadvantage of this place is that the staff is not very friendly, i think it wouldn't kill them to smile at least once. food at the bar is good, but again, girls who work there are rather impolite, i saw that one girl behaved really rude towards a japanese customer.

The workers were very friendly, and gave me a good discount because I was only there for about 7 hours. My only issue with this hostel was the smoke. If you have any kind of allergy to cigarette smoke it's not good to stay there because of the smoking....I would stay again if the smoke didn't bother me so much.

this hostel was the cleanest hostel i stayed at in kunming. the beds are comfortable, and the staff was extremely patient and polite. free wifi, in rooms as well as in the cafe/bar. Comfortable spot, and in a quiet neighborhood, but close to bars near the lake. A good mix of western and chinese backpackers stay there, and the people who stay there were warmer than the ones at the hump, which is a fine hostel as well, but just a little colder. Really enjoyed staying here.

The welcome was a little cold and formal for a hostel and the promised taxi rebate was never given. One key for the group was provided which made things a little inconvineant. Not the most open and friendly staff that I have come across in hosels.

I'd stayed for one night only. I liked the environment and the location. For a stranger in Kunming I could walk to the Green Park by myself easily and it was not far. Very convenient. And the hostel was very quiet.
