Maruja is really helpful, when one of us was sick she came in to make us extra tea. The atmosphere is nice, clean rooms, warm shower, good wifi. - Location is a bit far out of Huaraz, but a taxi only costs 4 soles. Breakfast is a bit simple, 2 slices of toast with jam, coffee/tea and juice. Staff also advised us on hikes to do around the area and tried to sell them to us with overprised taxi's.

At Night the rooms were a bit cold, but a warm sweater goes a long way. Gilf and his wife were very nice and helped us out with the tours we wanted to take. Highly recommendable! :D

Gile and his wife are great hosts. They serve up a great breakfast each morning, Gilf is always around to give advice to trips and hikes. Really great family sun hostel. It is a little out of town, but easy to catch a 5min taxi into the centre for cheap.

This hostel was a nice soft landing. What a nice surprise to be met at the bus station so we didn't have to worry about finding an honest taxi at night. Gilf was an outstanding host. He was very helpful with all the information we needed for hikes etc. Even though it was not right in town I would reccomend this hostal as the service was outstanding and besides Huaraz as a town was uninspiring it is its location in the mountains for the outdoor activities that most people are there for.

We had a spacious room with a large bathroom. Everything worked and the property is well maintained. Wifi worked well in the room and there was hot water as required. Maruja and Gilf are lovely people and concerned to help you get the most from your visit.

Excellent stay, hostel and family are amazing and have a massive knowledge of hiking/activities in the area. Only booked for 3 nights but stayed for over a week. Great roof top view of the Codillera Blanca, location is a nice quiet neighbourhood and easy 4 soles taxi/80c colectivo to town. Would strongly recommend.

We booked for 1 but basically stayed for 2 nights in mid of March. We came by bus at 04.00am, were caught up by the owner at the terminal & went together to the hostel. Without being charged, we could directly enter to the nice & clean room & take some rest, only for getting later a perfect breakfast & leaving for a trip to Chavin de Huantar which he organised for us for a cheap price. The hostel is calm & charming & the owners are adorable. It is the best option in town and definitly worth it!

We would highly recommend this hostel as it is in fact so much more. A warm welcome (with coca tea to combat any altitude sickness), a wealth of knowledge on trekking in the area and great treks organized by the owners themselves. It is clean, beds very comfortable and freshly squeezed mango juice, fresh coffee, scrambled egg and toast before you set off in the morning. It is a short drive from the city centre. There are a couple of nice walks/acclimitisation treks right outside the hostel too.

Really lovely room. Snug with carpet. Bahroom great with consistent hot shower. Maruja and gilf friendly and extremely helpful, made us feel at home. Ended up staying longer! Location is slightly out of town, a short colectivo away for 1 sol. Great access to nearby short day hikes as well as longer ones further afield. Recommend lake 69. Use of kitchen great and included breakfast very good. Can't fault it.

Gilf and Maruja go out of their way to make sure you feel at home and have all the information you need about trekking through the surrounding beauty of Huaraz. The breakfasts are also the best I've had with the option of eggs or pancakes! Awesome rooftop views.

We really enjoyed our stay at la casa de maruja. We were picked up from the bus terminal and really made to feel at home. Big room, spotless, good breakfast, loads of really good useful info on walks / trekking options. You need a taxi to get into town (about 4 soles) but these are very easy to pick up. Would recommend to stay here.

We loved our stay in this hostel. The owners are very friendly and helpful with a lot of knowledge of the region and the activities. The rooms are big and very clean, it's like a hostel with hotel service. Location is somewhat out of town, but close to nice restaurants, great view a just half a block from taxi's and busses which cost about 0,20 eurocent to go to the city center (3 minutes). Worth a stay when you are visiting huaraz,
