We had a wonderfull time in Huaraz thanks to Gilf and Maruja. They make you feel at home and help you whenever they can. Gilf speaks good English and can also arrange very good hosted trekkings in the area. We've done some trips in Peru but Gilf was the first that fulfilled all his promises. The hostel is not in the center of town but taxis are affordable and shops in the neighbourhood are cheap. We can't recommend this hostel enough, if you're going to Huaraz, go to Casa De Maruja!!
Gilf and Maruja are really wonderful, and extremely helpful. Gilf speaks english and Maruja understands it. Gilf is a trekking/climbing guide, and gave us very helpful advice. They also carry some trekking supplies there at the B&B. The room was really nice and comfortable, and breakfast was filling and tasty.

The room was huge, the hot water really is 24 hours, the kitchen's big and well equipped and the location's perfect for collectivos to Yungay/Caraz and is walking distance from the start of the Wilkawain path (it's also easy to get into Huaraz centre). Maruja cooks a great breakfast and Gilf is a fantastic source of trekking and local info, they're so kind and will look after you wonderfully. They also let us use the room right up until our 10pm bus so we could shower and rest after trekking.
Very clean and quiet. Nice breakfast. Maruja and Gilf are very helpful. On the downside, you have to take a colectivo to go to the city center. It´s definitely not within walking distance. It´s also a bit on the expensive side.
very nice hostel, very helpful and knowledgeable owners. rooms are big and comfy with ensuite baths, breakfast is good. locations wise it is about 10 minutes with one of the shared cabs from the city center but totally worth it for the service and everything you get there.
My girlfriend and I had a very comfortable stay here. Gilf the owner was very helpful with information and in the end planned our trek to Santa Cruz which was flawless. Only bad note, when we returned from our trek there were no rooms available so we slept at their sister hostel, on the other side of town. No toilet seats in any of the rooms and loud noises all night long, very good shower but limited time.
Hot showers, large rooms, decent kitchen, friendly owner, free pick-up from the bus station, and a fantastic breakfast. Only problem is sometimes staff is hard to find, but they are there when you need them.
Gulf and Maruja were so wonderful. They looked out for me and the couple after we were late coming back from our Lake 69 hike, they prepared delicious meals for us as needed, and just made me feel so at home. The room was comfy, there was plenty of hot water. The wifi was great, even in my room. One of the first rooms I've stayed in so far that was actually warm to stay in. Great place!
The location is a bit out of town but it is close to the start of alot of the hikes and the companies pick you up. We walked into town one day and it took about 25 minutes. It is well worth it to stay here as the owners are very accommodating and friendly. For example, we arrived at 6.00 am and got our room with free breakfast and one night we got home later than is normal from a day hike and marujas husband was outside waiting for us because he was so worried about us. They made dinner for us
