The MontClaire was a short easy to find walk from the metro. The website provided directions. We were able to access all the'sites' easily. The HUGE flea market was just a short walk away and loads of fun from antiques to... Over 2000 stalls! It's an old building and climbing six flights with bags was tough, but, part of the charm!?:-) The staff was friendly and helpful and croissants in the morning were great.

Le Montclair is in a fabulous old building and the free brekky was excellent. The shower...nope I just cannot call a brief spurt of water that does not stay on something that is possible to wash with. So for a fun dirty stay in Paris - a great hostel.
Stayed with a friend in a private 2 bed bedroom, the room was located in the sixth floor with no elevator! Do not go to this place if you have a lot of baggage. Also the toilet on our floor was extremely small and claustrophobic, and the showers were ok but on a different floor. The bar and atmosphere are cool, but the location is far from being close to the area of interest. Breakfast was included and was generally on the better side, but in Paris you may want to get a more "local" one.
Like everyone said, the washrooms are small, but that wasn't really an issue. The shower head sprayed the water in a weird way which discouraged showers. No cages under the bed like most other hostels and lockers were small, so we had to leave our bags in the open. Nothing was taken. No WiFi in the room and the common space was tiny for the amount of people there. It was always crowded but there wasn't too much mingling between guests. Some of the staff were always grumpy, for a whole week, .
Close to a metro station so access into the city was great. Best hostel for the price.
The people were very friendly, the atmosphere was great, my only complaints would be that the shower automatically turns off every few seconds (which wasn't a huge deal, just a slight inconvenience) and the kitchen gets very overcrowded so you have to plan ahead if you think you'll want to use it.
Great atmosphere. We really appreciated the complimentary breakfast and loved cooking in the kitchen. Would have appreciated a place to hang out at night and meet people, such as a bar. However, the kitchen was a good place to meet people too.
Very good in all respects. Easy to find. I stayed here 7 years ago in a single room. The inclusive breakfast is excellent as is the location in Montmatre close to a Metro station. It is somewhat short on power points - a need nowadays with everyone carrying mobile phones and other electrical devices.
If you are a budget traveler, this Hostel is perfect for you! I stayed in a room with a double bed and we had our own shower and sink. There were two bathrooms and toilets on our floor. This hostel was a good value for the money and very close to Jules Joffrin train station which can take you anywhere in Paris. This hostel was also in walking distance to the artist corner and Sacre Coeur Basilica and we enjoyed walking around this area.

The hostel is in a great location and a great value for what you get. There wasn't wifi in the rooms, and the lobby was often pretty crowded making it difficult to call home or find a quiet place to work. It did lead to meeting several new people though. There wasn't a shower on my floor, and there is no lift in the building. I didn't mind the exercise, but a couple of people around me really struggled.
Although the hostel is good value for money, we were left a bit dissatisfied due to the following.. (Couple: Staying in private room) -Our door had HUGE gaps in it (they could hear everything, and so could we) -Despite her huge smile, the receptionist had a bad/rude attitude (blond wavy hair) -No Wifi in the room and very slow downstairs. -The communal shower was just a spout without the shower head and not very clean -> disgusting towel on the floor that I dared not step on.
Loved the staff, especially Beatrice. One morning/ afternoon shift guy was really rude to everyone who went up, but besides him, no complaints. OK breakfast. Tiny showers. So easy to find since the metro is literally right around the corner. Quieter than the rest of Paris, and a 20 min walk to the Sacre-ceour lookout. Met some travellers there that I have been meeting up with around Europe now.
Good space, good kitchen. The breakfast could be better, though. Nice that the lobby has board games and the internet works fine in the hostel. The location is very good, close to the metro and to several velib stations.

You're getting exactly what you are paying for.
Cool place, but super expensive. Paris is just an expensive city.
Pretty good hostel.... The rooms were good, and had their own bathrooms in ours. we stayed in a 8 bed dorm. The best thing was the kitchen because Paris is really expensive so be sure to cook at the hostel. The cleanliness of the kitchen depended on how dirty the guests were at night time. Besides that, very clean. The staff was amazing too. Location was good, close to the metro and Sacre Coeur, kinda scary at night time though. Amazing hostel though
Disappointed about not being able to use wifi in room, and about having no lift in a 6 story building. There are only one fridge to share amongst the whole building. Other than that it was very good. Good comfortable beds. Clean sheets.
Good hostel however showers were freezing cold at any time of the day and the toilets were extremely small! Nice atmosphere and helpful staff if a little slow when checking in if there are lots of people!
A very nice place to stay for backpackers. Meeting new people and very friendly staff. Just that there is no lift to 5-6 floor but we didn't mind at all. Good work.
My sister and I were here for 6 nights. We really liked the set up of this hostel, however we were on the 5th floor and no elevator so it was a haul to get up to our room at night (but you could see the Sacre-Coeur from our window which was perfect.) That's the only negative aspect of our stay. The breakfast served in the morning is included in your stay and is simple but very good. Wifi is only in the lobby. The location is good, there are 2 metro stops pretty close and Montmartre is great.
