Very nice hostel and friendly helpful staff. Could use a map showing how to walk from the the West Inn airport shuttle to the hostel as it is close to walk but the current map needs to show the direction from West Inn.
Nice place with good food, very helpful staff and with the most comfortable beds in china. Also wifi in rooms!
Clean bathrooms, nice common area with WIFI. I highly recommend the hot chocolate (comes in a large mug). Friendly staff and a great location. I stayed in a 4-bed dorm. The beds were very comfortable. Nothing bad to say.
We enjoyed our stay at Lost Garden. A very nice place and the price for two people with private room about $22. Staff was very helpful in getting bus numbers to attractions, even writing down in Chinese direction for bus ant taxi drivers.

Great place to stay. It's locate near the Green Lake but it's hard to find at first. The staff is very nice and helpful, They can communicate in English fluently. The food is also delicious. We stayed in a mix dorm room, it's comfortable and clean. The bathroom is a blessing.
This hostel was great for a base as we travelled in and out of Kunming. We stayed three times, each in separate rooms, including the double, twin and dorm, all of which were really comfortable with nice homely touches. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and we had a good dinner in the restaurant. Location was easy to get around and in a quiet neighbourhood which was a nice change.
Centrally located within blocks of the beautiful Green Lake area. As mentioned in other reviews, the dorms in the basement level are quite damp and musty-smelling, but nothing unbearable. The dorm beds are great with nice thick mattresses, personal reading lights and electrical outlets, and privacy curtains.
We liked the location and the hostel enough that we will stay there again when we return from Myanmar
Nice location close to the Park. Excellent food at the hostel. Very comfortable mattresses for a bunk bed!
- more toilet paper please :) - the breakfast ist awesome but a bit expensive
It is a very good hostel, well located near Kunming green lake. Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. The staff is very nice and tried to help us to book bus and train tickets. Concerning food, breakfast and home made pizzas are delicious.
Enjoyed the pizza and Vietnamese salad very much. The staff were helpful and very friendly. The restaurant is closed on Monday but breakfast is still available.
Very friendly staff, good beds, very nice and modern facilities in our dorm, but very humid. excellent kitchen which is unfortunately closed on mondays

I've been there after being in the hump hostel. The atmosphere is much nicer! The staff is much more helpfull! And the food and rooms are much better!
I didn't spend much time in this hostel, because our flight was delayed and we arrived in Kunming at around 2 am! Then we headed straight to the hostel and just had several hours' sleep there. Then the other day we left early for Shangri-la. The hostel wasn't easy to find, but the staff was helpful in guiding our driver to the hostel. The room was clean and comfortable. I would come back if I stayed in Kunming again.
the location is not great, a little far from the centre of the city, but plenty of cheap food options very close. The main part of the hostel is in a good condition with a quiet eating area on the second floor. Receptionists were helpful, the room was large and the toilets/shower in a good condition. The main door was broken, so not very safe, although one still needs a key to get into the room.
I booked this hostel 3 times. After the first time, I would have given it a perfect score BUT on my second trip, I was going to be put in a dorm room in the basement of the main building. The place is very damp and moldy. Make sure you get a room in the building next door which is perfect. The staff was very accommodating and I got a private room instead of the dorm. The staff is wonderful. The restaurant is the best hostel food in China.
This was easily one of the best hostels I stayed at. The receptionists wer nice, polite and helpful. We ordered tickets to shangri la performance directly at the hostel and got good advice about transportation. The room was clean and convinient. Though the bathroom and a toilet are not inside the room (shared on each floor) the were very clean, hot water always availale and shower included two kinds of good shampoo, liquid soap and conditioner. Restaurant served tasty western food and pizza.
I spent five days there and it was great. You have everything you need there and the green lake is just superb. The staff is very helpful and speaks perfect English. I would definitely recommend it.
