This is a very nice guesthouse, the staff were very friendly and approachable. The room was very nice, spacious and comfortable and cleaned everyday. The best feature by far was drinking water: free to use water cooler, and believe me, not many hostels and guesthouses in China provide you with free water to drink and you have to resort to buy bottles or boil from the tap. Only thing we would have liked is lighting in the beautiful terrace to drink a beer, read or chill out at night. Recommended

Great place to stay - excellent location; maybe 5 minutes walk from the Green Lake area. Wonderful breakfast options. Great room; towels changed each day and good level of privacy from room mates as a curtain and bedside lamp (along with plugs to charge your phone etc) is provided. Shower is wonderful. Staff are helpful and always willing to offer advice on buses / journey times etc. I feel very fortunate to have found this place and stayed here.

I stayed at Lost Garden several times during the summer of 2016 - I'm a grad student doing some preliminary work in Yunnan and used Kunming as a home base. The staff were exceptionally helpful, the rooms are quiet and comfortable, the garden areas are really well done, and the hostel is steps away from Cuihu. I'll definitely be back in the near future.

Place was overall excellent. Super helpful staff. Nice rooms and a great upstairs patio for relaxing. Conveniently located next to a great park and a lot of shops.

I was in Kunming for less than a day, transferring through the airport, but Lost Garden made a great stopover. Because I arrived late at night I arranged transport through the hostel and I would say it was well worth it--200 yuan but it just made everything easy. I took the Airport Express Bus to the airport the next day--a 15 minute walk from the hostel but only 25 yuan. I really enjoyed exploring downtown Kunming on foot and the hostel made a great base (plus they have a good map!).

Overall a very nice stay. The place is tucked away from a bigger busy street where you can get a bus or a taxi to begin the day. The hostel is big with four floors, each one with a balcony overlooking the first floor. The staff is very nice and helpful, but can get very busy sometimes, so you will have to wait your turn. They rent bikes at 30 RMB. I worry about dorm room lockers, because the locks arn't very strong and once I had a cockroach in the shower however. But I chilled. This is a gem!
