This review might be biased because of our late arrival ~10pm. However, our room was behind another door once we got to our "room". Since the lights were out, we could not find this room and the front desk staff didn't say anything about it. The bar also opened up later than we expected it to.

14-Bedroom was quite nice, good beds, clean sheets, doors seperating half of the room, so not too many beds together, plenty of lockers inside the room. Bathroom was smelly and mould inside the shower cabin. Shared kitchen much too small for such a big hostel with dirty oven, old bent baking pans. Overall, not a cozy place, maybe due to size and setup, it seemed more like a hotel.

The kitchen is TINY, was often full and was often uncleaned by guests, wifi access in the room was minimal. A hostel can't really help the type of guests that it attracts but there was a group of guys in the ajoining room here that were on a stags trip, were rude, not very considerate and not very understanding of my polite complaint when I asked them to stop coming home so noisy when they were drunk. Staff were pretty understanding with this but there wasn't much they could do

Meininger is exactly what you want from a budget hostel. It is cheap with smallish but comfortable rooms, no exceptional frills but it is also secure, clean and helpful with a good bar on site. They provide lockers but no locks so bring your own, ensuite bathrooms are a bonus. The biggest bonus however is the location. While not in the centre of town (a mere 15 min walk to the main square) it is across the road from the AUGUSTINER BREWERY which is the best in Munich, get straight over there.

If you are looking for an Hotel, maybe this hostel is the right place for you. If you are looking for something different, with a special atmosphere, Meimenger hostel is the worst place in Munich and maybe in Europe. Full of Italians that seem the protagonists of Jersey Shore shouting all the time, and speaking only italian. The hostel seem to be a supermarket or an expo, finally one of the worst hostel I've been to!!

Some problems at first with the booking (arose from the requirement of full payment for booking on specific dates), but it's all solved through email correspondence. I think Meininger has responsible and responsive staff as long as you tell them the problems. 3-bed private: free towels, with a TV,easily accessible. Very dim light in the room. The room was a bit dusty, and smelt of sth not very pleasant, but I would not say it's dirty. No, not at all.

Very centrally located and felt like a hotel rather than a hostel.

Very clean rooms. Lockers under the beds for your belongings (although our lockers did not properly lock). Very helpful staff. Overall, a very great stay.

The hostel was fen but the location was not great, in the wrong direction to the centre of the city and a long walk with luggage. Otherwise fine.

Very good and well appointed hostel as per all Meinenger outlets. It is not central but only one stop or a 15 min walk away from the central station. To its advantage is the West End amenities (bars and shops) and the Augistiner Beer House across the road. The main advantage of this Munich Hostel however is the self catering kitchen, absent in those others clustered around the Hauptbanoff. Well worth visiting if you want to avoid the more youth orientated hostels in the City.

One of the nicest hostels I have stayed in, excellent value for money. The rooms/beds were nice and clean, the staff were helpful. Would definitely use again if needed.

I liked it very much. Although from the outside it doesn't say much, it is one of the best hostels I've ever been to

Good value for money and okay for a 2 night stay. It's a big hostel though so if noise is a problem I recommend ear plugs.

It was my first time to stay in dorms but this experience was really great. I loved this hostel, it's clean, central, transportation facility at the door, the room was spacious, staff were nice... everything was just perfect. And very good value for money
