spacious, clean, well maintained. it is a great place to stay in bergen. even though it is a bit far from the city center, it does show you what is like to live on the side of the mountain, just like many other Norwegians. I actually like the location now, it provides a good peek into the local's daily lives.
The breakfast was excellent The staffs were friendly even they accidentally put me in a male-dorm I basically like the place very much If the next time I have more time I would love to stay in this hostel because it is in mountains with a very nice surrounding
Only stayed here one night and it was fine for what I needed. Bedroom was a good size and showers and toilets were clean. Breakfast provided was good, kitchen and other communal areas were spacious and clean too. Was a bit out of the way, but other than that, it was fine.
Lovely place close to Ulriken mountain, includes free breakfast and tea/coffee in the afternoons. Stayed in the off season so it wasn't the best atmosphere, but still managed to meet some lovely people. Was in the 18 bed dorm and had plenty of room to move around in, only down side was that there were no lockers in the room. There were plenty of power outlets. Doesn't include linen, but that's standard across Scandinavia unfortunately. Staff were really kind, would stay again :)
Amazing! Stay there for the awesome dinner and atmosphere!! Very clean too!!!!
LOVED this hostel. Had an amazing time with the people I met and the activities we all did! There was ALWAYS something to do with tons of people! Community room was amazing and I truly loved it! This hostel made my solo trip to Bergen and I would go back and visit in a heartbeat! Will be very hard to compare this hostel with others as it is my top! Has a gorgeous overlook at the city (especially at night) and I would recommend this 150%. Free breakfast! Do yourself a favor and book this hostel.
The staff were wonderful, rooms were lovely (and we were in an 18 bed), breakfast was really good. Whole hostel was lovely and clean and the showers were really powerful and hot. :) Is a little out of town so a bus is necessary, but views from the actual hostel are beautiful and buses are regular so it's not that much bother. All in all, great hostel, would definitely stay again.

Montana is a great hostel. They organize hikes and other activities, have a nice common room, huge kitchen, and free breakfast which is quite good. Everything was pretty clean for the most part, except the showers were unbelievably disgusting when I went to shower. Location is really out of the way but nice if you want to hike up mount ulriken since the trail is close to the hostel. Buses don't run frequently on weekends so it was annoying getting back and forth. Staff was always willing to help
Had a great time here. Met some cool people. Nice lounge area with foozball, a piano, and a TV. Big kitchen, free breakfast. Nothing in walking distance except a hiking trail. You gotta get on a bus to go anywhere.
The lock on the door was a bit of a complicated setup. Breakfast and service was pretty good though.
Friendly staff with lots of free organised activities, the coffee and cookies hour is a good way to meet people. It is far from the city (20 mins on the bus, 50 NOKS each way but you can get tickets from stores/supermarkets for 35 NOKS). There are lockers but not in the rooms which is the only real negative, especially if you're staying in the bigger rooms but it is a great place to stay overall.
Far from the city center, one of the best breakfeasts I have ever had in a hostel is included, nice atmosphere, nice rooms, friendly staff
Hostel was clean and had good kitchen and bathroom facilities. However, it's quite far from Bergen itself - you have to take a bus for at least 20 minutes and they don't come very regularly. Saying that, being up on the mountain means you have convenient access to the trails leading up Ulriken, which is a fun hike!
The room was dirty and dusty

The location isn't in the city centre but up in the mountains so it's just beautiful. I really loved the location. Breakfast is also really amazing, cozy vibes. Great kitchen!
A great hostel! The kitchen was a bit short of stoves, though, and one had to wait long to cook. But great hiking trips organized by the staff, and bicycles could be rented for free :)
A bit far from the centre, and it wouldn't be a problem if the bus is cheaper... Nice clean room. The staff are really nice and helping. Even prepared breakfast pack for me as I needed to leave early. Thanks!
Good hostel, rooms were spacious and clean, great common areas with huge free breakfast, good wifi, free tea and coffee and cookie hour and well equipped kitchen. Only down point was location was a 15 min bus ride from the city, though was close to walks. Helpful staff and volunteers though not many shared bathrooms, only 2 female showers for our whole corridor. Very mixed group of people staying there, not great for meeting people as there were lots of families and a lot of older people.
Nice place, mostly decent 4-bed dorms with sinks. Quiet but with nice big modern communal areas (well-equipped large kitchen, large games/TV room, outside area), 24-hr reception (in summer) with very helpful staff, nice buffet breakfast included 7.30-9.30. Fewer male showers than female, though I only had to wait once out of 4 mornings. Decent wi-fi. Near cablecar station to Mt Ulriken, a 20 min bus ride from the city centre - every 15 mins except on Sundays (35 NOK if bought at shop/machine).
Like all other reviews said, it's far from the centre of town, 20 minutes on the bus. I had to buy a ticket on the bus which was expensive at 50 NOK. You can buy a Bergen card (24hours for 200NOK that covers lots) and get public transport for free so if you can get online or to the Tourist Info to buy a Bergen card before getting the bus I'd recommend it! The hostel itself was big and clean, like any HI hostel! Nice common areas, breakfast included, clean rooms, lovely view at sunset etc.
