About

Welcome to HI Bergen Hostel Montana, the coolest place to stay during your trip to Bergen!

We're located up on the hillside of Mount Ulriken, about 3.6 km from Bergen City Centre, and super easy to reach by public transportation. Plus, there's a grocery store right next door and many different hiking trails just around the corner. Did we mention free parking? Yeah, we got that too, exclusive for our lovely guests!

We welcome backpackers, groups, and families to our international community of travelers all year round. And we've got options for everyone - whether you're looking for a private room, be it single, twin, triple, or quadruple (and more!), or prefer a shared dormitory for making new friends and sharing travel stories while saving some bucks!

Now, let's talk about the good stuff - food! We offer a complete all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet to keep you fueled up for all your adventures FOR FREE. And not to brag, it is amazing.

No worries if you left your bed linens and towels behind, we've got your back! You can rent a set from us at a super affordable rate of just 70 NOK for the whole duration of your stay, or if you prefer, bring your own for absolutely no charge. Just a friendly reminder, bed linens are an absolute must, and sleeping bags are not allowed. Consider yourself duly informed, my friend!

We've got Wi-Fi so you can keep up with all your social media posts (#bergenhostelmontana), laundry facilities to keep your clothes fresh and clean, a small gym, and two guest kitchens equipped with everything you need to show off your chef skills.
And when you're ready to relax, we've got plenty of options too: chill out in our TV lounge or challenge your new hostel friends to a game of foosball or table tennis in the games room.

Our international volunteers are always planning fun activities for our guests - from hikes and BBQs to music sessions. And let's not forget the free Coffee and Cookies activity, every evening in the common room (because we all know that's the most important meal of the day).

Our hostel is HI Quality and Sustainability certified, so you can rest easy knowing you're staying somewhere that cares about the environment and a greener planet!

And last but not least, our outdoor areas are perfect for taking in the breathtaking views of the mountains. And there are even BBQ facilities so you can grill up some delicious food while you're at it. Hummmmm!

So, pack your bags, put on your hiking boots, and come join us at HI Bergen Hostel Montana for the adventure of a lifetime!

A wonderful hostel with great facilities, beds are comfy and the kitchen is good. The staff are friendly and the hostel provides a free breakfast for travellers from 7-10am. Located close to Mount Ulriken for a great hike and it's approx 20 minutes from the city centre by bus.

HI hostel Montana was better than I ever expected. The entire hostel was cleaned daily, with a free breakfast buffet, and daily events ran by the volunteers. The hostel had a large fully equipped kitchen, a laundry, a gym, and multiple hang-out areas which were great for socialising and meeting new people. Multiple bathroom facilities were available, so I never had to wait for a shower etc. It was a ~20 min bus ride from Bergen centre, perfect for quiet evenings but central enough for exploring.

A lovely hostel! Atmosphere was good and social. The trailhead to one of Bergens most popular hikes is right outside the door so it attracts a hiker crowd. The hostel had a lovely surprise of a free breakfast, probably the best free breakfast I've had at a hostel! The rooms were a bit small (4 person female dorm) but cleaned daily and nice ensuite bathroom. Will be back!
