About

Right in the thick of the action – Nomads Backpackers Queenstown

Chuck your bags down in the absolute heart of Queenstown. We're 100 meters from Lake Whakatipu's edge and smack bang in the middle of the best bars and nightlife the town's got going on.

Digs for every vibe

Whether you're after a bunk in a shared dorm, one with an ensuite or want to treat yourself to a private King room with your own bathroom, we've got you sorted. Heaps of our rooms come with balconies where you can soak up views of the lake and the Remarkable Mountains, sweet as!

What's on site

Chill in our common area with a game of pool or foosball, catch a flick in the cinema room, or sweat it out in the sauna after a big day on the slopes or trails. We've also got a 24-hour reception, so roll in whenever.

Activities sorted

Our travel desk crew can hook you up with awesome deals to explore the local sights or get you into some serious adrenaline – bungy, skydiving, jet boating, you name it.

Heads up on the noise

We back onto Searle Lane, which is a ripper of a social street but does get lively, especially Friday and Saturday nights. If you're a light sleeper. Free earplugs are available at reception too if you need them.

Most rooms have balconies, but a few face the laneway with just a window. Want to guarantee a balcony? Get in touch directly and we'll make it happen.

**Please note we are an over 18's hostel**

Summary of traveller reviews

Nomads Queenstown offers a fantastic central location, perfect for exploring. Guests praise the friendly and helpful staff, with many mentioning specific individuals. The atmosphere is social, making it easy to meet fellow travellers. While generally clean, some recent reviews note that the kitchen and bathrooms could be cleaner and that noise from nearby bars can be an issue.

Great hostel with some of the best facilities I’ve seen in a New Zealand hostel. Can get quiet loud at night due to how close it is to nearby pubs so pack earplugs.

I thought Nomads was an okay hostel, it’s a good budget hostel for if you’re working in queenstown or wanna save money whilst travelling. Not great if you’re a holiday. Beds don’t have any curtains and are quite cheap and loud, our room was right opposite a country bar which plays music every night until 4am. Felt a bit cramped in the kitchen and bathrooms, but both were clean.
