It was far from the Ubud area, so guests would really need to avail of the transportation services of the hostel. The place also looked a bit old and forlorn. It was also understaffed, as there was only 1 guy who did everything - reception, maintenance, driver, etc. We had to wait 20 minutes to get our room because he had to clean it first. He spoke English well enough so that was a good thing, but there was no one else to help him so when we had requests, he was the only one to see to them.

July at the front desk was excellent help, very informed and friendly. Directions on hostel World say 5 mins from town, it is really more like 20 mins in a cab and over an hour walking. It is very close to elephant cave and good restaurants. Staff was great, free transport to bus station in town. No wifi in rooms just in lobby.

The hostel is a little far outside the town but July at reception will always offer lifts to Ubud centre. The view outside the window is beautiful. The bed is comfortable and the room is a good size. The bathroom was clean but it smelled bad sometimes. July is the only staff there and he is excellent. We went on a tour with him for quite a reasonable price and we had an amazing day. He also took us to his village though the paddy fand showed us around which was really interesting!
