Best hostel I've stayed at in Asia hands down. Incredible location, beautifully designed, really nice staff, and great social scene. The double rooms are a steal!

One of the nicest hostel I have stayed in all of my travelling, highly recommended! Great location, friendly owner, great breakfast (owner's wife makes delicious cakes)!

After a warm welcome,.you feel home immediately. The chocolate cake was delicious! :-) The location is very central (Chinatown - Little India) with some good places to eat for a cheap price. The interior design of the guesthouse breaths a lot of character and is cosy, open en relaxing. The only thing which is a pity is that you have only shared ammenities, but if we come to Melaka again, we would defintely come back to this place!

The hostel is value for money. You got what you paid. I don't expect a hotel facilities with this price. I'm satisfied with most of the aspects, the things that need to be improved included 1. The water pressure of the heater is low in the second bathroom which located nearby to the room no.9. 2. We stayed for 2 nights, but the bed sheet didn't changed! 3. I like the river view at the balcony, but there is a lots of mosquitoes. * If you're driving to Melacca, parking is a major issue.

Clean and spacious. Nice communal balconies. Would be nice if they served breakfast. There was no all day staff at the reception, so we had some trouble to communicate our questions. The place itself it really nice though.

Good atomsphere and kind staff. Location is good to walk around Melaka town. Room is just fine to stay for a couple of nights.

The owner was very pleasant, made us a cold drink and offered plenty of information on arrival. I don't believe breakfast was stated on the website but it was offered when we were there. There were also some bread, cakes and fruit available through the day which was a nice gesture.

The location is about 5 minutes walk further than ideal for most tourists, so it's at the quiet and authentic part of the heritage town that most travelers will love. The view of Melaka River from the second floor balcony is fantastic. The landlord is very generous to supply a big local-flavoured cake and a lot of pastries fresh every morning. And the whole place is fumed by incense to keep out mosquitoes all day.

Enjoyed my stay, although kind of difficult to meet other people, as I was traveling solo. A bit inconvenient that we weren't allowed to stay in the lobby area after checking out, (if we were leaving later that day), but otherwise alright. The sheets also had a strange smell though.

What a cool place. Nice large rooms, directely at the river. Amazing different cake, toast and fruites for free every day. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Additionally Ipoh is a really nice city with many things to do.

Must be one of the top hostels

Very, very nice guesthouse. Not surprised that Tripadvisor awarded them like the best guesthouse for 2 years in a row. Comfy, clean and affordable rooms. Very good wi-fi, so if you're like me who does online work this is a good place to stay in Malacca. Friendly and approachable staff. Highly recommended to other travelers.

While Melaka wasn't our favorite city, this guesthouse is great. Owner Raymond is kind and accomodating. It's set on a quiet street with comfortable spots to relax. There isn't a proper breakfast but Raymond always had fruit and baked goodies out, along with tea and coffee whenever you want. Our room faced the street and would get noisy once the work day started for folks around 8 AM, which wasn't a big deal for us.

It was my second time to stay here. Always perfect. Thanks to this place, I love Melaka more. I hope I will stay here again.

The Owner, Raymond, is an absolute star! Not only got us room 6h earlier then usual check-in, but spend his time explaining us what to see, where to go and what food to try. He gave us a map and pointed everything for us. All we have to do is follow his marks. We enjoyed the city a lot and it was Raymond and his wife cakes and cookies what made our stay even more enjoyable. I would recomend River View Guesthouse to anyone.

Exceyllent location ,excellent facilities, excellent service and very service minded staff. I certainly will stay at the River Wiew the next time and recommend it to all !
