Excellent place! Raymond met us at check-in with an incredibly helpful map of sites and restaurants in the area--his recommendations were spot on. Though we also traveled to Penang, our best food experiences in Malaysia were in Melaka because of Raymond's advice. River View is clean, comfy, and has an amazing location on the river (the name is accurate!).

Let me start by saying that I’d return to the River View without hesitation. The owner met us when we arrived and spent the time to get us oriented and comfortable. The location is just great. You’re on the riverfront in Melaka in the old Chinese neighborhood. The riverfront itself is really beautiful with all the properties having murals and plantings. Fantastic hostel and owner Raymond will tell you everything to know about Melaka. The balcony overlooking the river is very nice and a good place to meet other people. If I will come back to Melaka, I would stay here again.

Fantastic, friendly and well worth it. No complaints at all.

I really enjoyed my stay at River View and would happily recommend the hostel to everyone with a little imagination. The only downside i would have to mention would be that (particularly in the event of feeling a bit under the weather), the proximity of the bathrooms to the very charming terrace overlooking the river might be compromising to both those enjoying the view and those in the bathroom.

Amazing place to stay. We stayed longer than planned. Staff is very helpful and we met some nice people when staying there. Terrace facing the river was the best thing. Highly recommending the place!

Great place, clean facility, walking distance to Jonker Street. Slept on lower floor dorm, could hear people from upstairs walking, sounded like thunder, deafening. Nice view though.

it was nice he was kind and speaks english well. the view from the terrace was amazing and the chinese woman who works there was very kind ^^ she can't speak english well but she did her best to tell some information whenever i ask her thank you ~

We loved staying at River View guest house. AS a family of five including a grandma we found the facilities and location superb.

What a gem! Owner is extremely helpful and welcoming and takes the time to give you a very thorough map tour of Melaka along with recommendations on what to do and where to eat. Rooms are nice, everything is very very clean. Location is perfect. Definitely not a party hostel, a very nice place to relax after a day of sightseeing. Excellent value for money and one of the best places I've stayed in Asia!

we arrived late at night 10pm but the host still there waiting at the counter and welcome us with drinks and map information. Excellent location. Beautiful balcony facing the river and room is big. 2 nights in melaka weren't enough. we will definitely come back to this lovely guesthouse.

Very nice and cozy hostel by the river, you can sit outside on the terrace which is very nice! It's also very good located, the rooms are clean and the beds are comfy :)

The best I could ever imagine for the reasonable price!

This is a beautiful place to stay in Melacca. Close to most of the sights, and for those that aren't close you can rent a bike from a shop nearby. Even if you don't do much sightseeing, this guesthouse is beautiful and very relaxing.... great to just chill out.
