I thought that it is one of the best guesthouses I have ever stayed. I felt like being at home, and I felt like being in a real guesthouse. A house that is open to guests.

Roof Top Guest house is a delightful place to stay. It is very central for sightseeing. Mani and Raymond are so friendly and helpful. Their advice on where to go and the detailed map they talk you through save hours of wandering around.. They provide fruit, bread and homemade cakes for breakfast. We had the fruit and then went over the road to Little Momma's for a very reasonable eggs and toast and coffee. Highly recommended

I stayed 6 nights here, the owner Raymond and his wife are super nice. They made cakes or bread sometimes just for the guest. Very generous!! The dorm room is very spacious and no bunk bed. And they give you real blanket and bedding. So comfortable!! The entire hostel is very clean and the room doesn't have Mosquitos. I had my best sleep in Rooftop in my entire 2 and half week traveling in Malaysia!

Friendly atmosphere, great location, walking distance from Jonker Walk and the river, but very peaceful. Delicious cakes!

Wow! The hosts were wonderful! Mani even baked fresh goodies for the guests nearly everyday! It really felt like home. I stayed in the 4 bed (no bunk beds) dorm and it was the best night sleep I've had in Asia. The bed and blankets were soft, the air con worked great and it was so quiet. When there wasn't a bed available for my travel buddy who had not booked ahead they even called and found a place for her and had their son walk her over to the other place so she didn't get lost. 2 thumbs up!

This is a really great hostel. It's friendly, comfortable, clean and there is a bar upstairs. Everywhere of interest in Melaka is in walking distance from this hostel, it is in a great position in China Town. Just a really lovely place to stay, I highly recommend it. Great value too.

We had a great time in Melaka and in this hostel. As it was our first time in the city so the personalized map and intro talk with Raymond was very helpful. All the restaurants they recommended were superb! The room was basic but it met all our needs. The bathroom was always clean, the all day snacks were excellent. It was a short walk from all attractions so we can go back and rest anytime. We felt safe. Viewing the CNY fireworks on the rooftop was a highlight. I will gladly stay here again.

Easily the best 'hostel' I've ever and am ever likely to stay in. I say 'hostel' because this is truly like staying in Mani and Raymond's (the owners) house and them treating you. We stayed over Chinese new year which is difficult because Melaka is packed with people and most places are closed. Mani and Raymond and they're awesome place made our stay. They know everyone and the best places and people in town. Get as much out of Mani during her welcome introduction - it's well worth it!

Raymond and Mani were very helpful and friendly. We were provided a local map with all the places to see, eat and do on by Raymond which he explained thoroughly. This meant we didn't miss anything and got to eat at some lovely places.

Rooftop is a really nice guesthouse, perfect to relax and move around the city. The owners are really involved and do their best to help guests (what to do in Melaka, history, best restaurants... just ask them!) I really apreciated the simple fact they provide free umbrellas for the rainy days. There is no breakfast but you can help yourself with tea and coffee, fresh fruits and delicious homemade pastries !

I can't say anything bad at all about the Rooftop. From the initial warm welcome to the quality of the room, I was very happy to be staying there. Private rooms had both fan and aircon, there were two separate rooftop garden areas (both full of plants), and a spacious lounge/lobby area. The location was close enough to the centre of the historic streets to be a few minutes walk, yet far away enough to feel away from the general hubbub of other tourists. Highly recommended.

We had a great welcome when we arrived, breakfast was great (home baked cakes, toast, fruit and tea and coffee). The room was fine with big comfy single beds, aircon and a ceiling fan. The toilets and showers were ok, although the rooftop rain shower was the best! Having a house to come back to after a busy day and 2 roof top gardens to sit and chill out in made this place the best "hostel" I have ever stayed in!

we spent 4 nights at the rooftophostel . Its a fantastic place to stay. The place is absolutly clean. Mani, who runs the place, is very friendly and helpful. The rooftopterrace is a nice place to sit (if its hot, a ventilator can be switched on). We had a doubleroom with bath, it was right next to the rooftopterrace, which we liked a lot. From the hostel, you can do all th sightseeing by foot. A special thanks to Mani for the roles and cakes, she bakes herself and which are always available.

Very clean guesthouse. Double room was nice, with air conditioning. Shared showers and toilet were clean. Wifi is average speed. Very quiet accommodation, not really a place to meet fellow travellers. A bit over priced for compared to equal facilities elsewhere in Malaysia.
