Very nice hostel in a good location on the border of Santa Teresa and Lapa. Staff speak good English and are very helpful. Nice laid back atmosphere. Dorms are spacious and have good lockers. Very good breakfast. Would reccomend

The area is a little dodgy, better to be with a group of people than having to walk back up the hill or stairs by yourself. The place needs a bit of work/better management- ran out of toilet paper while we were there, fan in the room only worked sometimes making it very hard to sleep some nights and matresses are all definitely in need of replacing! On the up side- breakfast was yummy!!
Average hostel which doesn't really try to be anything special. There are plenty of bathrooms, but only one has a working, lockable door on it. It's a hike up a hill to get to and there's a lack of local shops in close proximity. The staff are reasonably helpful and there's beer available from behind reception. Apart from that, there's not a great deal which makes this place memorable.
Very nice hostel with good location close to party district of Lapa.
It wasn't that the staff don't clean, they do and are very nice. But the place overall is a bit run-down, so hard to make such an area look better. The breakfast was yum. Good for bigger groups who like to go out partying at night. The area is very close to Lapa which is also great at night time.
It is an ok place, some function-problems like no toiletpaper, there is no lock on some bathroom, and cant flush the toilet sometimes, but that is the same for many hostels in Brazil. The staff is friendly, but are not Brazilians. They mixed up our beds with other guests and couldnt find our booking and dont have a structure to help the guests with basic information like maps and stuff a tourist could need. All in all, you can live there if you are just coming back just for sleeping
In general I liked it. The location isn't near the beaches but there are several pubs, restaurants and nighlife around the hostel. The bathrooms and bedrooms were clean and the staff was very helpful with us, so I enjoyed it. The breakfast is simples but ok. The bedrooms didnt have air conditioning, just a ceiling fan and in a city that the temperature goes up 30ºC, is almost impossible to sleep well at night.
Very good and hearty breakfast - bread, cheese, ham, fruits, cakes, etc. Long climb up the hill, get your muscles ready. Even the hostel is straight in the middle of noisy Lapa, but its location is very quite, no disturbances or lack of sleep. Staff very relaxed, sometimes even too much. Overall, nothing to complain about, nice hostel.
I really enjoyed staying here. Location was great, however, it's uphill and hard to get taxis to come get you from up there. The staff is knowledgeable about where to go and what buses to take. The shower isnt the cleanest of all the hostels i've stayed at, but its not horrible. There's a girl that comes everyday to clean it. The breakfast is pretty awesome. There's cheese, sausage, sweet bread, coffee, lemonade, etc. More variety than most places. I'd recommend it here.
The only positive about this place is the location. I was given a bed by a staff member, then in the middle of the night, some drunk came and kicked me out, claiming it was his bed. The staff on duty that night (early morning) could not understand what had happened, which was that the previous staff member had made a mistake. Besides this ridiculous incident, the staff was inattentive in general, the toilets were consistently full, the shower curtains had big holes in them... just terrible!!!
Location and staff were good but bathrooms' cleaning was terrible. Also wifi connection was not so good.
Pefectly located in the middle of the city with a view. Close to the centre, Lapa street party and clubs, 5 minutes to Gloria metro station (Zona Sul). You can take minibus or climb... ;) The area is safe although it might not look like.
The staff is really nice! Adriana makes amazing lemonade. Good location but it's not the cleanest hostel ever

Best part is that it is walking distance to Lapa so great if you want to party on a Friday or Saturday night. BUT showers were terrible, breakfast was OK, kitchen is way too small. Very few people when I was there. Would not really recommend it.
Great atmosphere, full of interesting people, nice receptionists.

The hostel was really well located close to the Lapa and Santa Teresa night life. There was a good atmosphere with regular bbq's and beers out on the balcony with great city views. The hostel is only pretty new so it is only going to get better with time - right now that it is really good value for money.
Very well situated, in the lovely suburb of Santa Teresa and very close (3min walk) to Lapa with all the bars where there is a great atmosphere on friday and saturday nights The rooms are good and the bathrooms clean. Good staff and nice atmosphere to meet people. There is a kitchen where we can cook and breakfast in the morning is good One of the cheapest place we found in rio and still it's very pleasant to stay there!

everybody was so friendly, really enjoyed there..
If you don't mind climbing up the steep Santa Teresa Hill this is a great down-to-earth hostel overlooking Lapa en Centro. Facilities may not have been top notch, but the atmosphere was simply amazing
